Quote from: Jclayton92 on March 17, 2024, 05:03:58 PMYou do realize that passing attempts have no bearing on whether a Qb is good or not, correct?

CJ Stroud had 389 passes his last year in college in 2022 then proceeded to have one of the best rookie seasons ever in the NFL.

JJ had 332 passes this past year in 2023 and has a national championship.

Passing attempts mean nothing
CJ has physical attributes that are echelons ahead of JJ.
Stop it.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on March 17, 2024, 05:02:51 PMSo you think a healthy Jones in September will never set foot on the field?  Just trying understand your thoughts here.

To answer the op:  I dont think much of Lock. He has never been able to translate his game to the NFL.  The small hands certainly dont help drive ball down field in tougher weather.  Heard some people on NFL radio say he looks good in practice but doesn't carry over to games.

One thing to add:  Adding Burns doesn't make the defense elite.  They still have to play and prove it.  Pass rushers dont have as much success when their offense scores 14 ppg and the team trails in the 2nd half regularly.

I think he will not play a drive anymore

as someone not too familiar with his game, I am thinking worst case scenario where we draft an WR round 1 and just roll with Locke (obviously Jones is nnot playing bc of the injury clause).

Can he get us to the playoffs? No Saquon and adding locke and some WR doesn't exactly inspire promise, but the addition of Brian Burns makes this one fo the most formidable defenses in the game.

Quote from: Trench on March 17, 2024, 02:53:15 PMI don't care what Dabol or anyone says. I watch Jones stare at receiver after receiver and it's only gotten worse. Blaming the WR crew is comical. Why doesn't it happen with all these other teams Receivers then?

Daniel Jones is simply the most unlucky QB in NFL history. It's the coaches fault. Then the WRs run the wrong route. Then the OLine just is the worst of all time. Then it's that the fans don't understand what call was actually made. The laces on the football were messed up in his games. The grass grew too long affecting how he can plant his foot.

If he didn't have these issues he would obviously be a top 6 QB and be worth the money he is making. give him another 4 years!

Quote from: MightyGiants on March 17, 2024, 10:13:13 AMIn light of the fact that stats showed that Devito and Taylor had significantly more time to throw this season than Jones, this comment appears to be a bit disingenuous

Worst quarterbacks in terms of allowing pressures to be converted into sacks in 2023 (PFF)

1. Tommy DeVito (37% of pressures turned into sacks)
2. Daniel Jones (32%)

Very mature repsonse

you would know a LOT about maturity given your attacks on me.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on March 17, 2024, 09:03:32 AMJJ isn't my #1 or even #2 Qb so I'm not sure where that comes from. JJ Mccarthy won a national championship last year while Maye was losing to cupcake schools like Virginia, Georgia tech, and NC State.

Gee wiz, I wonder why that was??? I am sure it was JJ throwing those 15 passes a game! What a guy

Quote from: Philosophers on March 17, 2024, 08:04:35 AMYou can put a film study like that on every QB and every player.  They all make mistakes in a game so highlighting it offers nothing.  Do you think Caleb Williams does not ever miss a read or not focus one place when he should throw somewhere else.  Of course he soes.  What's great about that video is that even on plays where he could have gone to one player and threw it or ran it, he still made a big play.

ok confirmed you are a JJ guy instead of Drake, makes sense now

A great video explaining everything wrong with this guy. How he has 26 pages of nonsense on him is beyond me. DO NOT DRAFT THIS BUST

Quote from: Jclayton92 on March 16, 2024, 08:51:23 PMI agree, Drake Maye is Sam Howell 2.0. His inconsistent games vs weak opponents among numerous things I dislike about him as a prospect. He's my Qb4.

coming from the JJ MCarthy #1 supporter that's no surprise. Drake Maye is infinitely more talented than JJ who is a 2nd rounder talent at best.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 16, 2024, 09:16:32 PMLock has never rushed for more than 160 yards in a season, and that was an outlier year. He is a career 3.9 YPC. He's a career 10.7 rushing yards per game.

Even if Jones is only 60-70% of his norm in his post ACL year, he's still a much bigger factor with his legs than Lock is or ever was.

if I'm Jones and/or the Giants, I am not encouraging Jones to run whatsoever given the injury clause. Doubt he even plays a snap next season

Quote from: AZGiantFan on March 16, 2024, 10:14:45 PMI'm not sure how the logic of 'Schoen is a piece of trash GM', and advocating the Giants mortgage the next 2 or 3 years of the future on Schoen's judgement in making a trade up and then selecting the right QB fits together.
both things can be true

1. Schoen is a trash GM when we had the chance to trade a 6th round pick next year for Fields

2. by not making the trade, it makes it even more likely we are going QB

Quote from: Philosophers on March 16, 2024, 08:23:27 PMNo we're not.  His mechanics are inconsistent.  He misses wide open receivers.

Are you a JJ McCarthy truther? Asking for a friend.

or what is your angle.

We are 100% trading the FARM to take Maye at 3
