And yet people have still been trying to usher in the Hyatt era to replace him... At this juncture, Slayton remains head and shoulders above the kid in terms of both productivity but also how smooth he is in his route running

He's been impressive the past two games for sure, but looked a liability before that. Big test for him on SNF as the Bengals WR's are all big and hard to not only cover, but  also to bring down.

Someone needs to remind Daboll of Giants history and'Club 13'

Agreed. Only guy in the front line to come away with a pat on the butt yesterday rather than needing a kick up it was Dexter. That's a lot of money being paid to get one QB hit from two OLB's

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Ryan Tannehill anyone?

Wouldn't be against Tannehill coming on board but would like to see what Lock can do first

I'd imagine this poll will be in the negative but as usual post-draft I'm enthused (though I've tempered it slightly and guessed 9-10 wins).

Key thing is actually having a competitive training camp. Last years was powder puff. Looked after the players and it got the xxxx kicked out of us in the initial joint scrimmage with Detroit as our level of intensity and preparedness was much lower than those of quality opponents getting ready for the season, not for a siesta. That turned out to be a harbinger of what happened v Dallas in the home opener...

If we do scrimmage with Detroit again,  we'll be able to gauge progress.  They will always be well prepared under Campbell and now they have a really good roster.  If we can compete with them, we'll be just fine. We see the same again, it could be another long ass season!

Hardly unexpected that the group I targeted for day 1 & 2 is almost entirely decimated.

Key things that stand out are that the low positional values - RB, TE & G - have some quality players still available.

Hoping for an RB and at least one pass rusher today.

People that think Belichik is glib and short in the personality department really gonna need a re-think.

Interesting to see TE Wiley in the 3rd round

I gave him a bump based on need and fact little between prospects in R3/R4 of a draft. Never could see Waller coming back. When you're contemplating retirement, 90% of the time you checked out entirely

Quote from: GloryDays on April 24, 2024, 06:56:06 PMNice work by Ceri as usual =D>
I wonder why Ladd McConkey did not make his board on the trade back in round 1 option. If so, it might give us extra picks to be able to get a couple more of those good ones, like DL Friske, TE Sinnott, OT Rosengarten.

Because I saw him as a pure slot receiver. And we have Robinson for there (and Hyatt and now NABERS if needed)

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Final Prediction

I thoughts we'd trade up for Maye and I'm sticking with it. Just hoping the price doesn't include 47  as well as next years #1 (but I fear it will)

Great job getting it out

My Giants target boards will follow in a couple of days, most likely Tuesday night

I think my preference would be to sit and pick.If its not for QB & Giants the 3 WR's close together we take one of the two left (Odunze please!).

In terms of a trade out, I would target a position with thin depth in the draft AND that rates highly in a cluster. Drop back into the teens and that's TE, CB & DT more so than WR. Brian would obviously
love if if we took Bowers  :P  DT Johnny Newton is one of my "my guys" and fits the scheme perfectly. Not as big a fan of Byron Murphy II but could see an attraction. They're way above DT3 this year. Which CB fits us best?

OL is the deepest position in the draft so unless a grade is ridiculously high compared to the rest of the cluster we like, we pass on that.

Great job in getting it out so quickly, Brian.  Hope everyone enjoys it!

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on April 03, 2024, 01:08:36 PMMost makes sense...but Chau Smith-Wade, not so much.  :-??  Unless they are thinking nickel or something else. He's short, and he's too slow to stay on the outside (5'10" / 4.54 40 time).

All true. But Zebra Technologies, who tracked the Senior Bowl participants, had him as the fastest DB in maximum acceleration and 5th fastest in deceleration in yards per second.  In other words his start/stop and COD is terrific. He stood out in the game in Mobile - the first he's ever played the slot in having practiced for the first time in that role during the week in Mobile. As a slot guy, he undoubtedly has a future.

Quote from: Philosophers on April 03, 2024, 01:18:14 PMI dont see it with Flott either inside or outside.
Me neither. But I think he's been more miscast as a slot CB than as a perimeter guy. I'd like to see what he can do there more than I'd like to see him being deeply average in coverage from the slot as well as a hugely ineffective  tackler against  the run. Either he makes it outside or I think you can change his name to Flopp
