Parcells didn't help at all in Miami in the few years he was a VP.

Your logic is flawed. It's fine to have an opinion, but your justification is not sound. Just say you don't want to revisit the past and leave it at that.

Quote from: MrGap92 on October 23, 2024, 08:26:32 AMGreat point, the guy who advocated Joe Judge should take over, and then the guy that advocated Judge should groom a successor?

Bill Parcells advocated for Ray Handley.

Quote from: BlueMoshik on October 23, 2024, 08:09:26 AMHe also gave us Daboll. Every time the Giants have to fire their HC and hire a new one, John Mara calls Belichik to ask who it should be. Brilliant.

I think he only calls Belichik if Ernie Accorsi's line is busy.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 22, 2024, 08:28:52 PMSure, but that doesn't mean McDonalds has zero value, which is what you seemed to be saying about Twitter.

I guess by value you meant some other meaning than monetary value. That is fine, but I don't think that was the intended context for the word in the post prior to yours that prompted your response.

My comment had nadda to do with monetary value. It concerned intellectual merit...in my highly biased opinion of course.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 22, 2024, 06:35:02 PMThis is simply not a factually accurate statement.

If it is factually accurate, then that automatically makes Musk an idiot for paying $44 billion for it. And I don't think Musk is an idiot.

Have it your way. I always found it trendy tech for sheep that care about celebrities. The further I get off grid and distance myself from social media and industrial society, the more at peace I become.  I don't think Musk is an idiot either. People love McDonald's too, but it's not good for them.

It never had any value.

A guy I've wanted the Giants to interview for years is Greg Roman.

Quote from: MrGap92 on October 22, 2024, 10:30:36 AMJust because they dont scream, or the media doesnt push a certain narrative, doesnt mean none of these guys will be good. Any draft is a crapshoot, not htis one specifically.

I really hate that term "crapshoot."  Just because success isn't guaranteed doesn't make it completely random.

I'm fine with the Giants taking a flyer on a guy with upside in 2025 as long as they don't reach. I still think they should take a quarterback in 2026 if they have a high draft pick, which they probably will.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 22, 2024, 10:18:41 AMMaybe, but I will say I still have serious doubts about the guy.  I can't help but look at his physical abilities and wonder why he wasn't a starter for so many years at the college level.   I suspect there is something in his mental makeup that we are not privy to.

Yeah I'm not saying it's a great plan, more just something interesting to talk about. 🤔

Would the Patriots be willing to deal Milton?

Quote from: Philosophers on October 21, 2024, 05:55:24 PMDifferent than other families involved with their team the Yorks with the 49ers, Jones with Dallas, Kraft family, Bowlens with the Broncos, etc.?  Nepotism everywhere.

I mean Jerry Jones wont even fire himself as GM of his team in spite of the personnel mistakes he's made.

The biggest problems the Giants have are that they can't pick enough good talent and can't nail the most important decisions.

Agree to disagree.

Quote from: Philosophers on October 21, 2024, 10:59:01 AMEvery owner gives their opinions on players, talent, etc.  They all are involved.  Stop thinking that what Mara does is unusual in football.

This is a red herring. That John Mara voices his opinions is far less toxic than the way the Mara family treats the Giants organization like a country club with Chris Mara, Tim McDonnell and others holding executive positions despite demonstrated incompetence. Ronnie Barnes' time has also come. The Giants' front office is a pasture of inept sacred cows.

No matter what opinions the fans might have about "tanking" the coaching staff is going to do everything it can to win games. Best make peace with that. Doug Pedersen was fired and the Eagles were shelled by fans and media alike for that very thing. We aren't hypocrites are we?

I saw someone say in a thread a few weeks ago that Daboll and Schoen want the Maras to sit in their dirty diapers. It's not an unreasonable theory.

Quote from: 4 Aces on October 20, 2024, 10:46:35 PMAll the plays.

I just don't like Daboll's offense as a fit here.

Yes Daniel Jones stinks. But Daboll's supposed to be good with QBs, too. Watching this team line up in a shotgun offense like they've got Warren Moon at QB makes my skin crawl. WTF are they doing? 2 weeks in a row now, after Tracy has a beautiful performance vs. the Seahawks. With DJ up, under center. That's how you protect a limited QB.

Let some dome team with a passing QB give Daboll a shot. The Giants need to get back to the Parcells/Coughlin style of attack. Cold, late season important games and you had to deal with a nasty run blocking OL and physical RBs. It still works. Go watch a Detroit Lions game if you don't believe me.

In the past whenever I've made a post like this I've been routinely eviscerated. Thus I no longer bother.
