As of now Daniel Jones has:

1,138 Passing Yards (227.6 YPG), 6 TD's 3 INT's, 61.3 QBR

108 Rushing Yards (21.6 YPG), 3.2 YPC, 0 TD's

As of today, he's passing for his second highest yards per game total (232.8 his rookie year) but his rushing numbers are much lower despite similar attempts per game.

So going by todays numbers, he's on pace for 3,869 passing yards, 20 Touchdowns and 10 interceptions with 367 rushing yards (since he has no rushing touchdowns, you can't calculate any pace numbers so lets assume 2-3 rushing TD's)

Also he's on pace for only getting sacked 40 times, which is really low in context since he never played full seasons outside 2022. He got sacked 30 times last year in 6 games for example.

This is he plays all 17 games.

Obvious things can change due to opponents, improvements, regression but thats his current pace thus far

Also each game looks a lot better for him and the touch on the deep ball may be returning

Thanks for the projection.  Need more than 20 TDs and a better than 2 to 1 TD to INT especially with an offense focused on short throws.  I hope he gets there

It's almost as if week by week he's knocking off the rust of not playing for a long time and continuing the mental part of his injury recovery.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

It's kind of like Julius Randle last year. He spent much of the off-season re-habbing so he couldn't do his normal basketball activities to get into rhythm. The first month of the season he could do mostly everything but his shot just wasn't there. It took him one month to get his shot into rythym while the media and all the fans were killing him.

Hopefully the deep ball is back for him because after week 1 DJ has been anywhere from pretty good to dare I say this last week near elite in his play. The deep ball though held him back from being anything better than pretty good. If he plays like last week though this season could take a big turn for the better.

With him playing "near elite" (at least in your estimation), they've scored 18, 21, 15, and 23 points. I get the euphoria of a win kind of makes people gloss over things but how can a QB playing at an "elite" level produce this little scoring? The answer is simple: he's not playing at that level. And that's not meant to be an insult, just the truth.  But I think the Giants are so starved for QB play that there's a natural reaction to confuse functional and efficient QB play (and versus Seattle, a tick more than that--good is what I would call it) for "elite" play. We will have to see if they can continue to threaten teams vertically and if that actually results in increased scoring. Because as it stands this offense is still not putting up points at a rate that will sustain winning.

The way they have torched the blitz especially this year has been really, really, encouraging.

Also if last week is a true indicator, the deep ball might be back in the arsenal. IF so, the pace should only increase from here on out. I am expecting the numbers to be better than what you posted above.

Daboll explained the Giants have been facing a lot of two deep high safeties so the defense is giving us short and intermediate passes.

Jones is 12th in QBR and should be in the top 10 soon.

Wasn't Jacoby Brisset like too 12 or something in QBR as well at one time ; even this season?

I was watching the Mets last Sunday but, I just have one simple question? Is having a QB playing like this ; short passing to like 200 yards every game / few TDs / few points  scored very conservative/ high qbr rating ..... is that a formula for success in the modern nfl? So the defense had 7 sacks and special teams blocked a kick and returned for a Touchdown; is that is what's needed every week to win ? Can you rely on sustained wins like that?

I hope you guys didn't jinx him.  :smoking:

I think it depends on the opponent and the strategy for the game plan. A Zone Cover 2 Defense will be attacked differently than a Man Press.

As you know, the QB is only one element of the offense. There are 10 other players plus a coaching staff that contribute to the success of the offense. So a QB can play very well but the other elements need to do their part to enable a team to score points.

As Archie Manning once said :"this isn't tennis".

Jones has enjoyed high quality pass protection all season and in all but one game he has had an elite receiver at his disposal. His secondary and tertiary receivers are competent. I'm not suggesting the offense outside of Jones is perfect, but I don't think it would be accurate to claim or imply that it's dragging him down.

Jones had a good game last week for sure, but for the season so far he is not in the top 20 in either passer rating or yards per attempt despite having very good protection and an elite receiver.

I hope last week's game was a building block to what will be consistently better play from him all season. Overall, so far, it's been just ok in my opinion.

For the most part he has protected the ball very well. Though taking chances down the field and getting picked off once in awhile is not the worst thing. He is very accurate in the 5-20 yard game. That's great if your running game is working. If not, you won't score many points living in that zone. He has definitely lost a step in his running game and for god's sake when will he learn how to slide to absorb the hits he will get better. I'd give him at best a B minus so far. He should improve his statistics this Sunday against a very weak defense.

Hi Dave,

His QBR is over 60.3 ranking him 12th in the league

And

His passing yardage total is 1138, ranking him 11th respectively.

While it doesn't paint the whole story, in a number of categories he's on the brink of being a top ten QB.
