The Giants' way (which seemed to push the whole QBs need to be the right 1980s size) largely left the building with the "retiring" of Gettleman.   I have no reason to believe that Schoen and Daboll see the same need for height and weight.

As for Brugler.  As you know, I tend to favor people with NFL experience.   That said, I have heard many NFL people speak highly of Brugler's scouting abilities, and I know that Brugler has sort of been accepted into the NFL world (you hear him mention talks with NFL scouts), so I have added Brugler to my list of quality sources.

I sure as hell hope so. Jones' personality/background/mannerism/look similarities to Eli probably bought him an extra three years here. In fact they probably played a big part in getting him drafted here in the first place.

Since the decision to draft him and then to sign him have led to, or at least come in concert with, nothing but bad things for this team (save for some mild success in 2022), I have to believe even the stubborn Mara will be open to at least considering a different personality profile (not to mention potentially other characteristics that I don't need to come out and list) this time.

But I'm not hanging my hat on anything at all when it comes to this team. We are way, way past the point of being able to count on them to do anything that would seem like even the most basic common sense.

There's a lot of elements of Read Option and RPO's in Daboll's Offensive with the Giants. Do you think it's to keep the pressure off of DJ or that it's what he likes in an Offensive Attack? It would seem that a Milroe would be able to fit right in. I think he understands that element of a QB threat is important in this day and age.

Drew Lock is 6'4", Tommy is 6'2" and Tyrod an inch shorter. I wonder if height had something to do with Lock over Tyrod other than price. Both Tommy and Tyrod had pocket issues last season. All three are mobile.

I think there are limitations to looking at the Giants' backup quarterbacks. In my opinion, a wise GM signs a backup quarterback with similar traits to the starter so the same offense can be run should the starter go out.

Do you think that there would require a change of Offense with Lock or Tommy? Keeping in mind that Tommy was not ready for the situation he was put in last season.

I think they will generally run the same offense with just some adjustments for the QB.  I think Lock has the more similar skill set to Jones, than Tommy

To not give Tommy at least a chance to start and also be the backup  after he won 3 games last year in this town gives me pause on Daboll as a head coach.

I think he should get at least one start but are you saying that he should be the number one backup and play over Lock?

I think one start is WAY too little of a snapshot. Give him 2-3 and get his rythym.

As for the #1 backup, I think he did enough last year to earn the spot. Daboll was high on him. And the first game he wasn't even allowed to throw the ball so we should take that out of the assessment

Then why do you suppose Daboll didn't support him as the backup? They could have developed Tommy and drafted Sam The Hair Hartmann.

Million dollar question Ed. I have no idea sometimes what Daboll thinks. I've watched Bellinger be a consistent part of the offense as a rookie and then he gets limited chances whatsoever. This year we have seen him make some nice plays - same with Hyatt. Strange stuff.

My son told me someone recorded Beck talking to a girl and posted it briefly online before taking it down. In the recording he said he didn't really want to play football anymore. If that's true it's impossible  for him to play to the level of his physical ability. Football just isn't a sport where you can just go through the motions.

If that's true and it's verifiable then he'll collapse in the draft, if he gets drafted at all.

Forget Beck. If they pick him they will both be fired and never get the opportunity to head coach/GM again. No, it's either Milroe, Ward, or Sanders.
