"I wanted to play badly."

Unforunately, he did.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Sounds like he's not finishing out the season. The script was written for him to some extent so as to support the organization, the team and take responsibility for his part in this failure. I imagine in return, they will let him leave with dignity and his full remaining salary. It's sad that it got to this.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Interesting that it seems like he could have waived the injury waiver but chose not to.  Made a business decision.  Can't fault him for that, but it does make his statement that he wanted to do everything he could to be on the field a little questionable.

Good guy, good teammate.  I hope he lands a backup job somewhere and someday can be a success story for another franchise.

Uncle John will take care of him.

Today, in practice, DJ played scout team safety during a walk-through.   I think the team (that admits screwing him up) owes him a certain amount of dignity.  Why drag him everyday to the facility and on the road (including being away from family on Thanksgiving), if you have zero intention of letting him do the job you contracted him to do?

Daniel Jones has been put thru the freaking ringer.... not just this past week but for years. No, I'm not shedding a tear & please don't flood me with the millions he's earned or the play on the field, we are all very knowledgeable about those points. His criticism is earned with his play & he has been handsomely overpaid. He's such an easy target, especially playing the hardest position in all of sports.
He handles everything with such class and dignity....reminds me of the way Eli carried himself, which is why it was easy to compare them off the field. I wish him nothing but success wherever he goes.

It took me to this season to finally give up on DJ but I feel for the guy

I know I know .... He got 40 million and much more ..... I'm not talking about that

He's a good dude and you can tell he's hurt

I hope he has a Geno Smith type late explosion in his career or something

Just don't play good against the Giants

Exactly. As you said, business is business but don't feed me all this crap about wanting to play so badly for the Giants.
If he waived that injury clause he would be starting on Sunday, so why didn't he?

PLUS, he was playing safety in practice, so what happens if he trips over a water bottle during practice, does that injury clause come into play?
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

I'm not looking to stir up trouble or get into a war of words with anyone, but for everyone that thinks John Mara is too meddling and too involved and goes out of his way to protect Daniel Jones, if that stuff was true and DJ was actually JM's boy, do you really think he would allow Daboll to embarrass DJ by knocking him down to 4th on the depth chart and making play scout team safety?
That's just an honest question, like I said I'm not trying to get into any arguments.

An honest response: I seriously doubt Mara is involved in the precise nature of benching DJ. He probably got the high-points: DJ is not going to play again this season, it's DeVito and Lock, we may need to make some additional moves, etc. No way did Daboll or Schoen ever go "Hey, DJ is going to play a snap or two at scout safety, you cool with that?"
