Who would you say is the most overrated NFL QB, and why?

Last year; I have to say Baker Mayfield was the most underrated qb. Overrated? Maybe Dak. Folded again badly in a big spot. Herbert has under achieved, but I put that more firmly on the brass

A few thoughts I had:

Most overrated:

Lamar comes to mind. Before anyone jumps at me for this, "overrated" doesn't mean not good. Lamar is obviously very, very good. He has won two MVPs, and he's only 27. They don't just give that award away. With that said, he's on a great team, and he has continually come up short in postseason play. Maybe he breaks through eventually, but for now, he's 2-4 in postseason play with a 75.7 QB rating, which is pretty poor. For a guy who is talked about as a top three or even top two QB in the game, the postseason play is problematic in my view.

Underrated:

Underrated is tough, but Matthew Stafford comes to mind for me. He seems to be thought of as a good but not great QB. I can understand why people think this, but every time I watch him play when he's healthy, I always feel like I forgot how good he was. I think he's a top flight QB when healthy. Sean McVay knows what he's doing, and he moved mountains to get him, and we know how that worked out in the end.

If you guaranteed both were 100% healthy and asked me which QB I'd take for one postseason game between Stafford and Lamar, I think I'd probably go with Stafford.

Overrated and underrated
Kirk Cousins for both
Maybe not worth the contract
But he always seem to.do pretty well.at the end

I know a lot of people think Dak is overrated but he would transform this offense into a monster if he was on this team with these weapons.

For me, over-rated Jalen Hurts or Trevor Lawerence (I there Herbert is in the running as well)

Under-rated-  I was impressed by Baker Mayfield.
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

In terms of under and over rated, I tend to view said question in terms of output relative to the QBs salary.

Overrated - Russel Wilson, Kyler Murray, Deshaun Watson and Daniel Jones.
--Each players' output failed to justify thier $40+ million salaries.

Underrated -

Brock Purdy - As a 7th round pick, he was grossly underrated; today, he's "penalized" because he plays with talent.  Nevertheless, he's REALLY good and at under $1M/yr, he's criminally underpaid.

Baker Mayfield - He made just $4M/yr, his output was far better.

I'm with you on Dak being good. I agree. However he has had the luxury of playing on extremely talented teams his whole career, and for some reason (like his predecessor Romo) he consistently just seems to come up small in postseason play. And the sample size on that is considerable.

The guy has no excuses. He has spent basically his whole career playing behind a Fort Knox offensive line, he has had elite skill talent around him, and they have generally had a big time defense.

All the above said, I would not list Dak as "overrated", because I think most people acknowledge that the Cowboys have been unable to win in the big spot with him. Whereas I feel like Lamar gets a pass for this.

I agree about Purdy. I think he's a better player than many give him credit for, and he's still relatively inexperienced.

Underrated- Brock Purdy, Justin Fields

Think you might be onto something with Fields. I wonder if/when he'll be able to beat out a healthy Russell Wilson for the starting job in Pitt.

Overrated: Deshaun Watson
Underrated: Jared Goff
