Statuses to monitor: Lawrence Cager (hamstring), Jack Stoll (leg, left practice), Joshua Ezeudu (undisclosed, left practice), Isaiah McKenzie (hip/lower back), Austin Schlottmann (heat/illness), Bryce Ford-Wheaton (undisclosed/left practice), D.J. Davidson (undisclosed/left practice)

Heat could be issue for Ezeudu, Ford-Wheaton and Davidson.

I will add Tomon Fox (hamstring) and Evan Neal (ankle or possible knee) were MIA

Darius Slayton was kept out due to tightness

I think Ford-Wheaton may have had a bit of a setback on his knee.  In the prior two practices, he only wore a patella strap on his rehabbed knee.  Yesterday in the brutal heat he had a full sleeve and he was working the leg prior to warmups.

Couple of injury updates from yesterday's practice, per sources:

• WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton hyperextended his knee.

• TE Jack Stoll suffered a concussion (I swore I saw him grab his left knee when he went down).

Neither should be long-term, but both will likely miss the joint practices with the Lions.

Haven't heard anything yet on Josh Ezeudu, who was carted off yesterday.

It's unfortunate, but marginal guys like Ford-Wheaton really can't afford to miss any meaningful period of camp. They will have a tough enough time making the team as it is.

#Giants HC Brian Daboll has no real update on Evan Neal. Said he's progressing. Taking it day-by-day. Won't say if there was a setback or why a player they thought could go by start of training camp is still out with no immediate sign of returning.

Joe Schoen previously said he wouldn't be out long. Going on three weeks now.

I can't fathom how hamstring injuries still happen in the NFL (seems like Giants always lead the pack)...I watch the Olympic track stars and wonder how is it they don't have a lot of hamstring injuries. What do they do in terms of training and warmup that NFL players do not?

Trench...that Olympic gymnast who placed second beyond the great Simone Biles has had THREE ACL injuries/surgeries in her career.  I can't fathom how they launch themselves so high in the first place, but after 3 acl's?????   Injuries happen in all sports but obviously some folks heal / rehab better.  IMO the soft tissue injuries in football may have a lot to do with the type and frequency of the weight training, unlike in most other sports where sheer strength is a lesser factor.

It's fascinating when ya think about it all.
