Notes from today's practice:

• Obviously the Tyrone Tracy injury overshadows everything today. But I thought this was Daniel Jones' best practice of camp, especially considering he didn't have the Malik Nabers safety net.

When Jones has had strong practices this camp, it's mostly because he's hit on a few deep balls with everything else being underneath. Today was more impressive because he was drilling intermediate throws with good velocity/touch/timing.

The ball touched the ground three times on his 13 attempts today: A batted pass by Dexter Lawrence and drops by Jalin Hyatt and Chris Manhertz on well-thrown slants.

Jones fired a dig route into a tight window to Hyatt. He had a perfectly placed deep crosser to Darius Slayton along the sideline over Kayvon Thibodeaux, who was dropping in coverage. The deep balls will be huge, but those are the types of throws he needs to make more consistently.

• All of the focus has been on the question at CB2. Maybe that's because it's too scary to think about what it'll mean if Deonte Banks isn't ready to be a true CB1. He got beat by Slayton on a go route on the second play of practice. That's happened enough in camp to cause some uneasiness about Banks heading into a season with huge expectations.

• The rotating on the O-line continued with John Michael Schmitz easing back into the mix. Schmitz started at C with Greg Van Roten at RG. After two reps, Van Roten would shift to C and Jake Kubas would come in at RG. Austin Schlottmann also got some reps at first-team C. Austin Stinnie was at LG with Jon Runyan (shoulder) sitting out.

Evan Neal followed a similar pattern with the second-team OL, playing two reps at RT before subbing out.

• Eric Gray showed his burst on the 48-yard TD run in the preseason opener and it was evident repeatedly today. Giants are going to need Gray to step up after Tracy's injury.

• *Allen* Robinson caught six passes from Tommy DeVito with the backups. He got behind Jason Pinnock (rotating with backups due to safety injuries) on a deep post for a TD. I don't see a path to a roster spot for Robinson, but he's a true professional WR. He manages to get open and catches everything. Would be ideal to stash him on the P-squad for depth.

• Isaiah Simmons got most of the slot corner reps with the starters with Dru Phillips (ankle) sidelined again. David Long also mixed in.

• Think I saw Tyler Nubin mix in with the starting defense for a few reps. Ton of rotating at safety with only four healthy bodies, but notable because he had strictly worked with the backups previously.

• Jude McAtamney drilled a 58-yard field goal. Graham Gano's job is safe, but the undrafted rookie has impressive leg strength. Good player to stash on the P-squad with the international exemption.
