Dyontae Johnson, who spent last season on the practice squad as an undrafted rookie, impressed early in camp before suffering an ankle injury in the preseason opener. Johnson was still in a walking boot as of Thursday, so a return doesn't appear close.

On the depth chart you noted on this board Rich, wasn't he listed as the backup ILB?  That's quite a jump in development since he joined the Giants.

Actually, Ed posted the depth chart.  To your point, he has impressed, and frankly, if he didn't get hurt, I could have seen him winning the starting job.  This injury puts his position in limbo.  I wouldn't be surprised if he is put on returnable IR at the start of the season if he doesn't get well soon.
