With Donald retired, I would argue a case that Dex is the most impactful interior defensive lineman in the entire NFL

I think you mean Aaron Donald and I wasn't aware that he retired. Was their an injury or drop in his play last year?

Legendary Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald recently announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 years playing at an elite professional level. The Super Bowl champion shocked football fans across the country when he announced his departure from the league during the 2024 off-season. Per CBS Sports, Donald explained "I'm burnt out, if anything. The best way to say it is that I'm full. I'm complete. I'm satisfied with what I was able to do in 10 years. I think it's time for me, at 32-years-old, to retire from football and jump into the next step of my career and my life." While there are no confirmed reports of Donald's post-NFL plans, many fans will surely follow along with the former defensive player to see where he goes next.

Chris Jones is the only one who I think can make any argument, even then, judging by 2024 play Dex is on a level of his own right now.

For a defensive tackle, Keith "The Hammer" Hamilton was one of the better ones. Burt is a legend from the 80s who passed the torch to Erik Howard, another great who then gave way to Hammer. But for rushing the QB, none of those guys compare to Dex, and one who might have challenged him, but never had the chance, was Troy Archer. What great promise that was lost in tragedy.

But the Giants have a legend in the making right now and the rest of the line needs to take advantage of the opportunities of playing next to one of the best in the business.

Peace!

To me, it's an even bigger compliment to Dex to compare him to the great modern Giants' defensive ends. The point is that Dex is affecting the game like those players, while playing a position that usually doesn't allow for such an impact. He's not even a 3-tech DT doing what he's doing--he's a 0/1-tech!  Assuredly, his play style is nothing like JPP or Strahan... but putting him with them is pointing out the magnitude of his impact (single-handedly wrecking games for opposing offenses) and not meant to indicate he plays like those men.

I like the way you summarized it best. He is making a presence on the field, and in the stat sheet, for a position where stats don't always tell the story. That they are in Dexy's case speaks volumes.

Peace!

Dexter Lawrence ruins opposing game plans. If Burns and Thibs take a step we could be really dangerous.

I note the quick passing stats against us make it harder for Edges to get consistent pressures but they are likely contributing to Dex's effectiveness by making it more dangerous for QB to try to escape the pocket laterally.

We can hope that our coaches are working on ideas to optimise the trio so on days when Dex is somewhat contained (double teams from a good IoL) the Edge guys then eat.

I believe the coaches are in the process of doing this judged by the way Dex lines up in different spots and I see Pinnock getting pressure on his blitzes
