Quote from: bamagiantfan on November 03, 2024, 05:10:24 PMIt was insurmountable for 11 teams this week.....so far. I agree Jones hasn't been good enough, but he is just part of the big mess this team has become.

You're reinforcing my notion.  Here's the teams that scored more than 26 thus far today:

Dolphins
Bills
Chargers
Falcons
Bengals
Ravens
Phili (34 point pace)

What do all those teams have in common?

bamagiantfan

You forgot the Commanders, which is the only one that matters to me today

I don't disagree with you, but it will take more than just a QB change to get there.

I didn't see the game and just watched the highlights. They didn't show the lowlights that cost the Giants the game from what I was told.

He had 74 passing yards with 11 minutes left in the 4th.

He wasn't a consistent threat all day. I'll keep pointing it out until it's recognised.

Did anyone, I mean anyone, think Jones was going to win the game for the Giants?

For 40 mil a year. Where is the return on investment? And I absolutely don't want to hear about how the 6th year qb can "develop".

The acceptance of his ineptitude of the position, and the contract, is maddening.

My only thought is those propping him up were busy 2 years ago calling others "haters". That particular faction are simply dying for him to be the guy because they were doing cartwheels and busy telling everyone they knew better, sadly, that thread is now seemingly deleted - which is odd in itself - but they didn't know better. The "haters" were and are correct.

Apologies to quote you and for the tone of this post but I'm genuinely sick and f**king tired so having to read such nonsense, week after f**cking week.

My only thought is the horrific play calling and terrible play calling. The awful OL play and the multitude of drops. DJ needs to be gone and will be, but who will all blame when the team still sucks and he's playing elsewhere?

And remember, Bobby Johnson is coaching Washington's OL.

Fair enough point. So long as that 40mil is being used elsewhere and we're getting the same/marginally better qb play, I'll be happy.

Whilst I'm sure you're not accusing me of such, you'll be hard pressed to find anything where I suggest Jones is the only problem.

He's just the highest priced and the easiest exit from a mistake.

Nope, not suggesting you're saying that at all. Just wondering who you'll be blaming next year when DJ is gone and we're still 5-12.

Idk why Jones apologists, constantly say the people who want him gone think he is the only issue?

BIGGEST and ONLY are not the same thing.

Do we need to bust out the dictionary?

We're going to need a RG after this season, a long term RT, DT depth, CB, but if we get the right QB, that covers some of that up, all teams have holes, there has never been a team with no holes in NFL history. If they get a QB and add a couple more quality players or depth, we are in business

After reading your post I'm having flashbacks of discussions over the last two years on Saquon Barkley. It is more than just a player here or there that needs to change. It is the culture, which is harder to change and takes longer.

And that's why those of us who are pro-moving on from DJ have been saying to not reach for someone like Dart and have said draft Will Johnson, buoy the OL, and draft a QB in 2026 when the class is much better.

DJ is not taking this team to the next level. But simply getting rid of him is not the answer. Several key holes - plus coaching improvements - are needed for this team to turn the corner. But if its rookie QB + Daboll + sketchy secondary and OL, we'll be nothing improved over this team with DJ.

Rosters are changed every year. Of course other players will be let go and added. There may be some coaching staff changes. Never has there ever been a team that only replaced one player from year to year. I think it's a given that the team will look to improve the roster at weaker positions. No one has ever advocated for just replacing Jones and everything will be fine. So sick of that false misleading strawman narrative.

It is almost like they think we have a single draft selection and FAs dont exist lol

Not sure. I'm sure there will be plenty of blame to go around.

However, if they get functional qb play and they are 5-2 right now. Perhaps there'd be an admission that DJ was the biggest of the problems.

Guess we can check back in a year.
