I agree. Jones does objectively stink, but Schoen and Daboll tethered themselves to him with that contract--when they didn't have to--and are now using his smell to cover their own.

The question remains: Did the Giants' front office make the decision to re-sign Daniel Jones, or was a young, first-time GM implicitly or explicitly pressured into it by the owner? Regardless of your perspective, it's clear Schoen was astute enough to build in a two-year out clause. Furthermore, as we've discussed repeatedly, Schoen made several attempts to move on from Jones, but the team's draft position and the available quarterback prospects made that impossible. In the end, Schoen was correct about his assessment of Jones, and he deserves another year to continue building the roster.
