Why in hell should we care when he- as great a guy as he may be, and through no fault of his own- is emblematic of the disaster that has been the 6-year Mara/Gettleman legacy.

Of course, there no doubt are some frauds among us who may root for his; "I told you so" success elsewhere. Even so, it wouldn't make any of them, any less the losers.

I have known Larry (Painter) for a couple of decades now.  When things go bad, he will take his frustrations out on his fellow fans rather than on the team that caused his frustration.
