We don't know how much impact Chris Mara actually had. But let's not forget he ran a successful college scouting business that was subscribed to by over half the teams in the league. Chris may actually be an asset.

In terms of the team - I always harken back to the George Young saying: show me a struggling team and I'll show you a team with a struggling offensive line".

Our esteemed GM may have put a slightly better line together but failed in providing adequate backups especially at tackle.

I feel Bellichick had many years where he found good defense players and mixed n matched them into a formidable unit each year. For this alone I want him. I look at the last 3 years as change was needed. If he came here he will want to be the person who cemented the culture change in the Giants. Maybe like someone said earlier he comes with Vrabel.

I think it's safe to say - whoever loses on Thursday will definitely be fired

Gettleman once put together a 15-1 team that went to the Superbowl. That and a $1.50 will buy you a soda.

Hmmm... an over-involved owner being a detriment to his team's success. Where have I seen that story before???  :-??  ;)

Kraft was doing more than just offering his opinions from what I heard

Meddle a little, meddle a lot. Clearly not a formula for success.

Tim,

From what I have heard, Mara level meddling is pretty much the minimum a GM should expect.

Rich,

From what I've seen, Mara needs to sign checks and keep his wishes to himself and his dog.

From what I read, Daniel Jones was clearly reporting directly to John Mara.

The only time I have heard DJ ever went directly to Mara, was to ask for his release

It's not the first time that's been mentioned.

Players get old and teams change rosters. A coach can only play who he has. We can look at countless great HCs, from Allie Sherman, Chuck Noll, and Don Shula right up to Tom Coughlin and Bill Belichick. Did they suddenly forget how to coach? These are some of the greatest HCs in the history of the NFL, yet, when their players get old and the replacements can't play, do these guys forget how to coach? You still need some talent for these guys to work their magic.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.
