Question: why is this significant?

The vast majority of posters here are unhappy with Schoen.

Surely the advisors paws are all over the perceived bad decisions?

The one argument in favor of Schoen was his 2024 draft. That was the first draft that Crowden was available to advise Schoen.  So, potentially, Schoen going from two terrible drafts to a solid draft could have been due in part to council here received from Crowden.

Guess we will see.

Would be interested to see his job description.

Ed,

The Giants thought enough of Cowden to interview him for their GM position.  Based on his title, I suspect he was someone who acted as a sounding board and a advisor, most likely on scouting and player evaluation (based on his background)

It's hard to say how much of a loss this is. Do we know what impact he had when he was here?

If Schoen gets credit for bringing him in, maybe he knows what he wants and can find a replacement.

Entirely possible. Or else he simply gave him a job while he was waiting on his next opportunity.

It may not be something severe that the fans will notice, but I think losing him will be felt by the Giants.
A few things I have read mentioned that one of the reasons the last draft was as good as it was is because of Cowden.
We will see....
