I would feel better if I saw progress and development on other position groups on the team and concluded that all that was needed was a QB but the fact remains that almost every position group has trended down or been flat.  That is my reason for firing him.

Agreed. In this era of free agency, any HC who can help you get to the first overall pick doesn't deserve to benefit from that pick. It's wild that people think this level of incompetence deserves to be rewarded.
