I agree they should have seen it was a mirage. To be fair, anyone who watched the divisional round playoff game could see that Daboll knew they were overmatched relative to their peer. He panicked early vs Philly and rightfully so. We can argue the blowout vs Dallas the tipping point last season but the wheels fell of in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

They should have moved on from Jones when they took over. And then the curse of 2022 happened masking how bad they really were. A savvy GM and coach would have seen through the mirage. It wasn't that hidden.

I think during that 2022 season, they got the impression that they could win no matter who was on the field. Daboll's "next man up" became the mantra of the season as the injuries piled up. At some point, I don't even remember which game, the Giants ran out of the QBs and were snapping the ball to receivers directly, which somehow worked. They got overconfident. The second half of the season actually wasn't that good. After the playoffs, they dwelled on the win against the mediocre Vikings instead of the reality of being crushed by the Eagles. They entered 2023 thinking they were on the rise. And then got destroyed 40-0 by Dallas on opening day. They've been bad since then, really.

The biggest mistake this regime made was thinking Daniel Jones could be good without Saquon Barkley. That's a mistake that shows me these guys don't really know what they're doing.

Well said Blue.  Giants bet on the wrong horse.  That shows they cant figure out who has talent and who does not.

Exactly. And the more I think about Schoen and Daboll the more convinced I am that there is no chance they could ever succeed. Schoen will never suddenly turn into George Young and Daboll, even with a QB, won't become at best a poor man's Vince Lombardi. This is amateur hour for the Giants. And you think back on the moves since Coughlin left. McAdoo and then Gettleman and then Shurmur, drafting Barkley at #2, drafting Jones at #6, Joe Judge, I mean who the hell hires Joe Judge? Finally we are with Schoen and Daboll who came and went with an obviously limited QB. All of this continual mess falls at the feet of the gentleman owner of the Giants. It's tough to be a Giant fan with this guy at the top.

This. There is historical reference. I'll repost an earlier post made today to another thread. Giant history has shown firing the GM and or HC won't matter. I'll repeat here the jist of a post made several times previously. I've been a fan since 1965. Their record since then is 427-495 with 6 ties. That's 68 games BELOW .500. A historically losing franchise. What about the 4 SB's say ye. If it wasn't for the intervention of Pete Rozelle placing George Young in charge. There is no turnaround, no Bill Parcells, no Tom Coughlin, no SB's, a continuation of nothing. Apropos to the season think of the great film It's A Wonderful Life. GM's, coaches, players have all come and gone, the one constant is a Mara. Remember this is the organization that drafted Rocky Thompson when a player like Jack Tatum was on the board. It is my firm belief without any empirical proof that Mara is the one responsible for the signing of Daniel Jones. The two year out is the compromise. He's Gone(and nothing is going to bring him back). In the past 10 years the Giants have finished 11th in a 10 horse race. Yet the value of the team has increased from $2.1 Billion to $7.3 Billion. A 3.5X increase while producing a terrible product. Any other business would be out of business. Mara lives in a different world than we do. Catastrophic results on the field(marketplace), coupled with wild financial success. He can throw all the chairs he wants. Human nature alone, where is the incentive to change? I would love the opportunity with some or all of you to sit in a room with John and openly express these thoughts.
