Day QB ROOM

Vikings: Darnold, Mullens, Rypien, McCarthy

Giants: Jones, Lock, DeVito

This is just one example of talent evaluation or lack thereof in the case of the Giants.

I could make an argument that any of the four on the Vikings depth chart could start or become a solid number two for the Giants.

Conversely the Vikings looked at our starter the day after his release and invested in him as a developmental player and practice squad participant.

Given that by their own words the Giants, as many other franchises, believe that QB is the most important player on the field, this is truly an indictment on not only their evaluation skills but their player development ability.

That is unless they were trying to prove a point to Mara by sinking this season with Captain Jones.

This is very troubling to me relative to our future enjoyment of a solid NFL team.

I'd love to read your take.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Why did Jones sign with the Vikings to be 4th on their depth chart? You would think they would have let go of Rypien by now right? Something is not adding up.

It's not just you. Something Andrew is sending from.

Yes. It seems to always start when I include a number or a numerical symbol in either the body of the email, or the title.

I usually edit the body successfully, but the title would not allow me to make the edits.

My guess it's Tapatalk and this site no longer compatible.

Jones was recruited by the Vikings. (You can read about that on the Minnesota websites.) Jones was coveted by 10-12 teams with at least three offering him the starting job. Daniel smartly chose the "situation " over a starting opportunity this year.

The buzz is that Darnold's success this year will result in a contract out of the Vikings' price range. Rypien is a non factor. That would leave Jones to compete with McCarthy next year. The only contract slot available for DJ was to sign with their Practice Squad where he is being paid approximately $372,000.

I know the majority of this Board thinks Jones stinks with several references to him being the worst QB in the NFL. But it's apparent the rest of the league doesn't share that assessment. McConnell was (quote) "ecstatic"  that Jones chose the Vikings over the numerous other teams who were interested.

No thanks, who has so much free time?

I am beginning to doubt it was more than 2 or 3

I don't see how anything he has done could be called smart

PS contracts are week to week so Jones is not under contract with the Vikings after week 18. If they really see him as a potential starter next season he would be elevated to #2 by now

What evidence? I know you like Jones, but this just seems extremely speculative and hyperbolic, at best.
