Giants-Eagles pregame thoughts:

• Today's game should have no bearing on the fate of Daboll or Schoen. There's ample evidence to make a decision. A game against the Eagles' backups shouldn't carry any weight.

• How Daboll manages the game will be telling. If he hasn't received any assurances he'll be back, he'll coach to win. But if ownership tells him he'll be back before the game, there could be some ... curious decisions.

• Prediction: Eagles 23, Giants 16. Which team wants to lose more? The Eagles have no motivation to win this game, while there is a benefit to screw a rival's draft position. A loss would be far more beneficial for the Giants, but Daboll can't operate that way unless he's received assurances that he'll be back. I have very little conviction in this prediction. Again, it'll be interesting to see how Daboll manages this game...

The Eagles have no motivation to win this game.

I disagree. Most players have performance clauses in their contracts.

BOTH teams have motivation to perform well and, therefore, are motivated to play well (if not to also win).

If they don't play, they are robbed of an opportunity to earn more money. If they play and stink, they are probably working against their financial interests by risking injury without any possibility of reward for taking the risk.

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!
