The OC does a lot more than call plays.

It's a joke! :smug:

Since the Giants would get comp picks (for a minority promotion), I wonder if interviewing Kafka meets the Rooney rule requirement

Kafka qualifies as a minority for comp picks?

Interesting, didn't know that

Good luck Mike!

The Giants needed to can Daboll and replace him with Kafka he was already on the payroll. Mara just doesn't think things through.

What have you seen from Kafka that suggests he would be a good HC?

Only thing I've seen is he has a calmer demeanor on tv from what I've seen of him. Daboll gets frazzled and melts down. Kafka at least has the look of that young energetic coach which seems popular.

But I have no idea if he is head coach material under all that. I certainly didn't love his play calling either.

I don't see it as frazzled. He lets his frustration get the best of him when the players don't execute. He does need work in that area.

At the end of the day, I'm less concerned with demeanor than results. The fact that the players still support Daboll tells me that his outbursts don't bother them either.

Kafka's first season had him calling plays from the booth. I have a problem with that. It conveys to me that he has little or no connection with the players. That personal distance doesn't bode well for reaching your players as a head coach. You have to be able to not only coach football but reach people on a personal level. The latter is what made all the difference with Coach Coughlin.
