When the NCAA morphs from farm team to another professional sports league competing with the NFL.  This could put a serious drain in the NFL's talent pool.

NCAA considering allowing five years of eligibility for players in all sports

QuoteNCAA considering allowing five years of eligibility for players in all sports

The NCAA is considering allowing five years of eligibility for players in all sports moving forward, an NCAA official told College Hoops Today on Friday.

There is no timetable on when a decision will be made, but the topic will continue to be discussed in the early part of 2025.

All players currently have four years of eligibility.

This would be a landscape changing move for college sports, which has seen many radical changes in the past few years such as NIL and the Transfer Portal.

The 2024-25 season is currently the last year for "COVID seniors", who gained an additional season of eligibility following the COVID-19 pandemic.
