Just by itself the Lawrence contract was a total disaster whose damage is only just getting started, but this guy has gotten so much more wrong too. He is terrible. I equate him to Dave Gettleman. Maybe even worse, as Gettleman at least picked a couple good players.

Beyond Trent Baalke's questionable GM performance, there appear to be character issues as he has had conflicts wherever he has worked.  I am hearing that Jags' job is less desirable because Baalke is still the GM.

Ran, we have good news and bad news-  The good news is the Titans have the first pick in the draft.  The bad news is you will not be the person making that pick

Breaking: The #Titans have parted ways with Ran Carthon, per sources. This was indicated to me days ago that this was up for discussion. There had been questions around the league as to the dynamic between Carthon and Chad Brinker (President of Football Operations) and who really had final say, and where that fell within allowable policies. Several execs around the league had been asking about this to pertinent league officials. Now, as some expected and thus monitoring closely...it all apparently came to a head.

So the Titans are keeping the coach but firing the GM?

A bit unusual, but in some ways, I think it should happen more often.  I appreciate that GMs have the ear of the owners so they tend to last longer but if there is a traditional power structure in place (the coach coaches the team, and the GM acquires the talent), it shouldn't be difficult after most poor seasons to decide if the issue is roster talent, how the talent was used, or both.

No real surprise on Pierce.

Can anyone remember an interim appointment who succeeded?

I agree.  Which is why I felt if the Giants were firing one, Schoen deserved to go more than Daboll.
