A link to the foundation of the National Football League passed today when the Bears' owner, Virginia Halas McCaskey, passed away at 102 years old. This is the equivalent of either Jack's or Wellington's passings, respectively, except this time it is the Bears' franchise impacted.

Here is the story:

Bears owner Virginia Halas McCaskey dies at 102 - A life inextricably linked to Chicago franchise

I'll never forget when Mrs. McCaskey, and her late husband, Ed, presented the Halas Trophy to the Giants for winning the NFC Conference during the Parcells years. Whenever she spoke, she always beamed happiness and goodness. She seemed like a wonderful woman and the Bears, and the NFL, are lesser today, and going forward, now that the daughter of the legendary Papa Bear himself, completed her life journey.

May she rest in peace, and my thoughts and prayers are with the McCaskey family, their friends and the entire Bears' organization and followers who cherished her.

Rest in peace, Ma'am.

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)
