Not a lot of appeal in terms of who the Giants could take at 34 vs what a lot of the mock drafts suggested would be there.   Most of the O-line and trench players went in round one, making the Giants' pick at 34 less appealing than anticipated.  Here's Mel's top players

1. Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado (No. 5)
2. Will Johnson, CB, Michigan (No. 11)
3. Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina (No. 17)
4. Mike Green, OLB, Marshall (No. 18)
5. Donovan Ezeiruaku, OLB, Boston College (No. 23)
6. Carson Schwesinger, LB, UCLA (No. 32)
7. Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri (No. 36)
8. Elijah Arroyo, TE, Miami (Fla.) (No. 37)
9. Darius Alexander, DT, Toledo (No. 39)
10. Mason Taylor, TE, LSU (No. 41)
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

Will Johnson still being there is a surprise to me, but yes not a lot of sizzle in that bunch!
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!

Was hoping they would target an interior trench player (DT or Guard) and all those guys are now off the board. Not really surprised by all the top DTs being gone, but thought Donovan Jackson might have gotten there. Gotta think they'll still be looking at the same spots tonight when the 65th pick comes around.

In terms of higher position need and system fit these are the guys that remain (bolded) that are appealing and have round 2 value. Last 3 are bigger bodied and more stout edge guys 260+ who can complement the smaller EDGEs we have:

1. Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado (No. 5)
2. Will Johnson, CB, Michigan (No. 11)
3. Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina (No. 17)
4. Mike Green, OLB, Marshall (No. 18)

8. Elijah Arroyo, TE, Miami (Fla.) (No. 37)
9. Darius Alexander, DT, Toledo (No. 39)
10. Mason Taylor, TE, LSU (No. 41)
11. JT Tuimolau ,EDGE, Ohio State.
12. Landon Jackson, EDGE, Arkansas
13. Jordan Burch, EDGE, Oregon
14. Oluwafemi Oladejo,EDGE, UCLA
15.  Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State
16.  Ashton Gillotte, EDGE, Louisville

Could we trade back into round 2 for a targeted player? I would think we stick and pick but under this win now directive we may have very specific targeted players in mind.

Mickey with having use the 3rd overall pick on Edge and having Burns and KT already, I would be hard pressed to justify a 34 overall pick on another edge rusher

Yes sir, absolutely. I was thinking a bit off premise , as who the pick could be at 65 or via slight trade up back into round 2. There are still DTs to be had that are stout vs the run too.

It's a surprise to me as well, but I stopped following draft talk a few weeks ago.

Anyone have any info on his drop?  Medical at the combine maybe?

He has a knee issue that some people think could shorten his career.

Serious concerns about his knee longterm. Similar with Jihaad Campbell who dropped to the Eagles, he'll likely start the season on pup.

Could explain why they were willing to give up 99 to move up.  Maybe Harmon was on their radar and when he went they said "Ok, let's make a move..."

With the way the DTs came off the board in round one, it solidified for me the sensibility of dealing pick 34.  Those were the only guys I was hoping to have fall to us at that spot in every mock draft I was using- with them being gone it made the trade-up make even more sense.
