I agree.

He is not a #1, but give him a real QB and he is absolutely a #2 imo

He had one game he got to play with Eli, as a rookie and he toasted the Eagles for like 140yds and 2 TDs, he wont do that all the time, but he has always splashed some big plays here and there with bad QBs, and has consistently before Nabers, been our most reliable WR.  I always found it confusing how he got so much hate.

Spoiler, Slayton listed as the most underrated WR in the NFL.

I've been saying that (or that he's a lot better than fan's give him credit) for the last couple of years. Early in his career, he dropped some crucial passes, and fans' tagged him as the guy who couldn't catch...yet for the last few years, his stats showed he had better hands than several of the top WRs in the league, but his early drops defined him. Then I pointed out that he's taller, longer, and faster than Hyatt...to no response. Hyatt is 6'0 with 33.5" arms, and ran a 4.40, 40 time (billed as the guy who can finally stretch the field and give us a vertical threat). However, Slayton is 6'1" with 34" arms, and ran the 40 in 4.38, and ranked in the "elite" status in all explosion stats...getting (9.7 in the vertical, and 9.94 long jump...in short, he's incredibly athletic and fast). Yet fans wanted to cut him from the team, and it made no sense to me

Here's something to chew on. Slayton had 5 drops in the 2023 season, and 6 drops in the 2024 season. Now check out the leaders in drops among the NFL elite in the 2024 season (you won't find Slayton on there, because his number of drops are too low to bother listing:  https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/stats?category=receiving&sort=rec_drops&season=2024&seasonType=reg&sortOrder=desc

The thing about Slayton is that he took his shortcomings seriously and improved each and every one of them (at least a bit) every season. It's hard to tell how much better he'd be on a good team with a good offense, but I sure hope we'll find out a.s.a.p. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Ed Vette

I've always been a Slayton fan and maintained that he could be a 1000-yard Receiver. I doubt he will now with Nabors being the primary Receiver. Nabors had 165 targets, WDR 132 and Slayton had 70. 80% as a wideout. His drops % is high at 15.2% compared to Nabors at 6.8 and WDR at 7.0, but I attribute that to the deep routes he runs. His yards per reception was 14.7, compared to Nabors at 11.0 and WDR, who lives in the slot with 7.5.
