Quote from: jimc on June 12, 2025, 05:05:54 PMIt wasn't a comparison in marketability.  It's was trying to point out the fallacy of letting a player to test the market and thinking he'll come back. Let me ask. If your employer let you go and said, test the market and I'll match the offer. Would you go back  to the employer that let you go even if he could match the offer?

But that's kinda the point. Isn't it?
If they ask DJ to test the market (which ((see Painters point)) JM would've probably vetoed anyway) would've given him an opportunity at a fresh start with another club, it would've given us a clean slate.....AND we never get to the point of losing out on Barkley.
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Please. The front office was dealing with the "success" of 2022. They didn't want to lose DJ, so they didn't want to risk him testing the market.

It is ironic that no 2 seasons hindered Giants development more than 2016 and 2022.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.
