He then goes on to give his general impression of this QB class (this is why I am posting it because his take is not like others I have heard, he suggests this class may not be as good as people think)

Another thing that Mueller mentioned is that QB movement on draftnik draft boards this time of year is mostly driven by coaches becoming involved in the process

He never gave reasons or his evaluation of any of the QBs in this draft class. He just made blanket statements. A waste of time.

He will in time; Randy loves grinding film.   If he warns that this QB draft class isn't as good as many believe, he is basing this on what he has seen.  I concede he didn't name names (at least not yet), but his suggestion that this could be a repeat of the 2021 draft:

1- Trevor Lawerence
2- Zach Wilson
3- Trey Lance
11- Justin Fields
15- Mac Jones

Has me looking a little more closely at this year's prospects and questioning the assumption that there are three elite QBs worthy of 1-2-3 picks.

It has been my feeling all along that this year's class is nowhere near a slam dunk as many have been promoting it as.

I think the comp with the '21 class is perfect. Folks raved about the top 4 and liked some of the second tier, as well. Thus far, Lawrence has been the only one to have success, and even then he's been good and not great.

Those are my exact expectations for this group. I expect 1 of the top 4 to end up good but not great. And I expect the second tier to fall flat.

I personally see more 2020 than 2021. 4 really good qbs with 1 or 2 elite and a day 2/3 that surprises.

Me too. It's better than the class it's being compared to. Although he did make one comment that I agree with. Teams have a lot to do with the success or failure of some of these QB's. I don't think Eli would have had much of a career with the wrong teams.

I don't know the year to which we should compare 2024, but I do know that I consider all QB's being talked about in the 1st round as having questions that would tend to dissuade me from taking any of them in the top ten. 

That doesn't mean a needy team taking one up there is necessarily making a bad move, but let the buyer beware. 

I don't see Peyton Manning or John Elway among this year's "candidates."

Neither Patrick Mahomes nor (obviously) Tom Brady was taken in the top ten of the first round.

When serious people use the term "crap shoot" they are... serious!

Almost every Pundit didn't give Josh Allen a chance and he was drafted behind Mayfield and Darnold but Rosen was the pundit's darling of that draft. Jackson was drafted at the bottom. 2/6 became good QB's, 2 Journeymen and one is out of the league. It is a crap shoot and even teams make bad choices but they take chances out of need. Most likely 2 QB's from this class will become top ten QB's but there is always a chance that none will. A lot of this comes down to the right situation, work ethic, and football intelligence. It wouldn't keep me from taking by best chance. It's not getting any better next season and that will raise the market value of the veteran FA's.

Ed: This might mean more to you than others because you were early to "like" Lamar Jackson.

My chief reason for rating Daniels high: IMO he'd be the best running QB in the league (and that's saying a lot).

I'm not referring to scrambling ability or pocket movement, but he is a very dangerous threat.

That alone should give him a head start in acclimating himself during his rookie year, because he will feel under no compunction to throw the ball if he doesn't see the open man.

He made SEC defenses pay to the greatest extent possible considering his team wasn't top-notch.
