Why didn't the giants get Justin fields?

Why? Why not? Would you have wanted him? Would you not have?

Chicago received a conditional 2025 sixth-round draft pick from Pittsburgh, which can become a fourth-rounder if Fields plays 51% of snaps in 2024. The compensation was a huge shock, as many believed Fields would garner at least a Day 2 pick.

I remember some here wanted Fields over Lawrence...we could have had Fields cheap, so why didn't we at least try?

Why would we want Daniel Jones 2.0?

Draft capital, why give up draft capital for a guy and pay him, when you can pay a similar guy and not give up capital.

They'd have had to pick up the option immediately or re-sign him to a long term deal.

I can completely understand why the Giants wanted no part of Fields.

Therein lies the stark difference between the pundits and actual NFL talent evaluators.  While pundits had been raving about Fields (even going so far as to suggest the Bears would pass on drafting a QB) the NFL saw the man in an entirely different light.  The compensation in a league starved for QBs, speaks volumes

fields is qb2 in Pitt behind russell wilson who BTW is making less than 2 mil this year.  not saying fields can't rebound but that situation may tell us a lot for now.

It was too big a risk, especially with DJ's contract.

Say DJ got hurt and Fields takes us to the playoffs in a similar smoke & mirror offense as Dabs pulled off in '22.....his big pay day is at the end of this season.

Now what? Overpay him like we did DJ?
Let him walk and we're bottom 3rd of the draft because of a playoff appearance?

It wasn't worth the risk.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Fields hasnt taken a big step foward since entering the league.  Showed improvement at the end of 2022 and it didnt carry over into 2023. He holds the ball too long and doesnt see the field well.

Just don't see him as a starter on the NFL.

Lock's agent asked if Drew would have a chance to compete for the starting Job and was told Daniel Jones was the starter. If Justin Field's agent had a say in the matter I assumed he would have told Chicago they were not interested in the New York Giants based on that public information.
