I fully understand the reasoning, but when a team is devoid of talent and then lets maybe one of their best defensive players leave, and really no one there to replace him, I have a hard time with that.

Do we want a team that hums Kumbaya as in we all get along like family, or do we want a team that may not be perfect but has good to very good players?
Sorry, that 'team type' player is overrated. We need talent and as that article mentioned we just seem to keep letting our best talent go to other teams while we struggle to replace them. Oh yeah, but we have a good locker room.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

I think a lot of teams, depending on the defense, either pay a premium at Mike, or pay a premium at safety. If it was between Mckinney and Okereke then we made the right call. Because by almost all the metrics Okereke was the 2nd best Mike in football last season. Plus our DC has done extremely well in the past developing safety talent at an all-pro level.

I think its a bit pre-mature to say we are "devoid of talent"

Lets get a few games into the season or at least the pre-season before throwing in the towel

Personally I believe this is the best equipped Giants squad since Big Ben's 11 win season

Moving off the up and down Barkley to a steadier running game to me is a big plus, for instance.
Potentially game changing.  Saquon had suspect hands and often went into a dance session on 1st and second downs

The secondary is young but very talented.   The only worm in the apple barrel seems to be Evans but even he showed flashes of improvement despite playing on a bad ankle.  Thomas was pretty bad his 1st 2 years and put in the work to improve to very respectable

The LBers seem solid.  The DLine solid.  The WRs very young and talented with 2 solid Vets.

Bellinger was held back by the switch to Waller.  He should be a big factor once more

The HC is a potential issue, but lets see how he does actually calling his own plays.

Lastly Schoen might not be done yet....more additions could be coming yet

I think he makes mostly fair points. There is some hyperbole in there, and he definitely is looking at a lot of "maybe" situations with a negative lens, but it's hard to really argue fiercely against what he has written.
