absurd, Daboll's seat is not warm let alone hot

Year 1 he took an absolutely horrible roster w #7 most injuries to a playoff win for the first time since 2011 & won coach of the yr

Year 2 his QB1 played 4 full games and his subpar roster was #8 most injured

his inherited QB1 isn't good, nor is the overall roster

NYG aren't expected to be good this year either: they're expected to finish 4th place in the NFCE with fewer than 7 wins

none of these poor preseason expectations are because Daboll can't coach QBs, offense or a team... they're because the roster & QB aren't good

pure silliness and way too premature to even discuss a "warm seat" at this point

if the season goes as expected (poorly) Daboll will get a new QB to work with for a few years

and if the season shocks everyone (and they're successful with Jones) then all this talk is moot

The only way I see Daboll getting fired in the next 3 years is if he completely loses the team.

Schoen will not fire him without giving him his own QB to work with.

I think they have done well managing the cap, getting through DGs mess which many expected to be a multi year cleanup before being able to actually start making moves, and have added some good players. Still a ways to go, but they are making progress and will be given a long enough leash before any heat is applied anywhere.

I think Dabes is fairly safe unless the team totally checks out, which it didn't last year. The roster has too many challenges to expect much more than 8 wins..which would be above expectations.

Dabes will get a qb of his own next year, you have to think, no? And survive.

Speaking of Warren Sapp - I'm less than impressed with him so far. Among other outlandish claims, he said that Jones has a weak arm and can't throw the long ball. When in reality, DJ has one of the strongest arms in the league

I would say DJ's arm strength is normal for an NFL QB.  I don't think it's elite, and I am not even comfortable saying it's above average.  His arm is not as strong as Eli's in his prime.

This feels spot-on to me. DJ is not Brett Favre or Josh Allen with arm strength, but I think it is at worst sufficient and probably a little better than that. I have never watched him and thought "man this guy has an absolute gun", but I have also never felt like he has a noodle arm either. I'm sure there are numbers out there on velocity. Just by my eye test, I'd guess he's average to slightly above average. If someone told me he was around 12th or 13th in actual arm strength among NFL starters I wouldn't be taken aback by that. I'd be surprised if someone told me he was 7th though. I'd also be surprised if someone told me he was 21st.

I would follow with the obvious point (which I think everyone here knows) that being able to throw lasers, while nice, is hardly a prerequesite for success in this league. Brady never had a rocket arm. Matt Ryan and Philip Rivers had below average arm strength, and both were very successful NFL QBs who have debatable cases to be in the Hall of Fame. I'd say DJ has a clearly stronger arm than Rivers ever did and probably stronger than Ryan.

Eli had a solid arm, but he didn't have a bullet either, and Eli often struggled to spin it. Jones typically throws a much tighter spiral than Eli often did. As much as I loved Eli, a lot of his throws wobbled, making them encounter more in-air resistance and also making them trickier to catch sometimes.

The point being, this is just one facet of QB play, and I don't think DJ is at or near either the very top or very bottom of the league in this specific area.
