Quote from: AYM on August 14, 2024, 04:04:45 PMI could see this team winning 2-3 games at worst or 9-10 if everything goes well.

The worst team in the league is the Panthers. That team has no talent and no hope. 0-17 is a real possibility for them IMO.

People on this board were absolutely raving about Bryce Young as an NFL prospect last summer.

If he doesn't play markedly better this season, the decision to trade up to get him is going to look like one of the worst - if not the absolute worst - personnel related decisions made by an NFL team in the last two decades.

So much for optimism. Such a depressing subject header.  :boooo:

I'm not expecting anything over the top with this group as constituted but I don't think they will start 0-8.

If the OL approaches average and DJ (we are finally seeing some personality/chip on shoulder) gets comfortable we go at least 4-4 as we have nice depth at the skill positions and a defensive front that can change games. Of course we have weaknesses (CB2 screams at us) but it feels to me like this is the soundest roster in a decade with better young talent to develop on both sides of the ball than we'd have had in a while. I am glass half full.

If we start out 0-8 unless we finish 9-8 Brian Daboll will be looking for a new job and very possibly Bill Bellichek would be the new head coach but not the GM

Just to clarify, I wasn't suggesting that this is the way I think we will start, Gosh, God forbid, I was just looking at the schedule and if we do lose the opener, it could be a remote possibility.

Winning breeds winning, losing is just as contagious.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Could they? yes, but it is very hard to be that bad.  I haven't looked it up, but I would expect more teams have started 8-0 than 0-8, and I expect that to be a large difference.  2-6?  1-7? If the OLine does not play well enough to at least be considered average by NFL standards, then I would say 2-6, 1-7 is highly probable.

During our Country's Bicentennial year, the Giants did one better by starting the season 0-9 before finally taking down George Allen's Redskins, for the first ever team win in Giants Stadium, which meant they could finally shave off their rally beards they'd been growing that entire season.

2013 produced that bizarre 0-6 start.

If they don't get punched in the face from the get-go, like they did against the Cowboys to start season 2023, there's a good chance we won't see 0-8. If they start landing some punches of their own, who knows what may come of their chances?

Peace!
