Finally the Adoree' Jackson contract details, per source: 1 year, $1.75M with $0 guaranteed. Jackson has a $1.5M base salary. He can earn another $250K total in per-game roster bonuses. The cap number is just $1.7M.

I'm told there are incentives tied to interceptions and playing time. Don't have those numbers yet, but they're classified as not likely to be earned since they don't count against the cap. So if he reaches them, they'll be happy to pay them since that means he'll have played well enough to be a starting corner.

SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

I agree with @Jolly Blue Giant and @EDjohnst1981

A couple of days ago, reporters were asking Daboll why NYG waited so long (or why so close to the start of the season) to sign Adoree Jackson.

When you wait until the last minute, you tend to get the best prices on unsigned vested veterans.  They want to be on a team roster for week one so their salary is fully guaranteed.

I think this should ease the concerns most had bringing him in, there is little to no risk whatsoever involved here.

Absolutely. You of course run the risk of them going elsewhere but the cards fell perfectly for this move and I'm pleased.

The Giants were in a bit of a bidding war with the Vikings for Stephon Gilmore. Gilmore eventually signed for 7 million guaranteed for 1-yr. This is much better. Gilmore is 33 years old and in the twilight of his career, and isn't the same guy he was 5 and 6 years ago (hence the reason he was an available free agent in the first place...not to mention, he's been on 5 different teams since 2021, which makes me wonder). Adoree is 28 and is going to cost 1.5 million w/ no guarantee. If we had spent all that cap on Gilmore, we'd feel obligated to use him, thus holding the youngsters back from getting NFL field time. With Adoree, we can use him whenever and feel no obligation to keep him on the field. Great deal

All that is true but Gilmore is still alot better than Jackson and that's considering last year as an outlier for Jackson.  If the plan is rebuilding, signing Jackson makes sense.  If the plan is winning, Gilmore wad the better option

A fine signing at that price. Adoree is a competent (if unremarkable) professional. I would imagine the Giants are hoping a more productive pass-rush helps cover up some of the short-comings of the secondary--the youth of Nubin and Dru Phillips as they get acclimated to NFL, and potentially aging for Jackson.

I think the key word here is "was". Gilmore will be 34 on September 19 (in 2 weeks) and age catches up with you...for which I can attest. And it really bothers me that he's been on 5 teams since 2021. Why??  :-??

If he's so incredible, why do teams get rid of him so quickly? There must be more to the story that we don't know about. Adoree has been in the league for 8 years, and been on only two teams. From everything I've read, he has stellar character and his teammates love him. Just really curious about Gilmore's constant travels. I wonder if he's a hard person to deal with behind the scenes or something. Teams don't normally trade or cut players who are very good

I didn't say he was incredible; I said he's better than Jackson.  Based on last years performance,  there are lots of CBs who are better than Jackson, he was terrible and I don't recall injuries as his excuse.

Really nice pickup. Almost zero downside. $1.75mm is peanuts for a corner. If he stinks, whatever - we're basically no worse off.

Could Joe actually have done something right? Good thing idiot Mara didn't meddle?  DJ would have screwed this up. /sarcasm/
