I don't see how any season where we don't make the playoffs with now three wildcard spots available in each conference "successful." Even though we have been incredibly unsuccessful overall for a decade now, one thing I don't want to do is redefine what "success" means. And there is nothing successful about missing the playoffs under any circumstances.

Hell, a lot of teams would call making the playoffs as a six or seven seed and going out in the first round "unsuccessful." So I don't see how we can call anything that doesn't involve a playoff spot "successful", no matter what the circumstances are.

The OL and WRs play well enough that, for good or bad, we get a definitive clear picture of DJ's abilities and whether or not we need to look for another QB.  Clear enough that both viewpoints, and those who have straddled the fence, are in pretty much in complete agreement.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

I just want progress, you said you fixed the oline, Wrs, and Dline now show me. If those are fixed that leaves a lot less holes and makes it easier to find pieces for the secondary and a Qb next offseason. I just want progress, and professionalism, look like a pro team, act like one, and be competitive.

While all those answers may be reasonable, one way or another, there is one which says it all: DJ must be seen as THE reason why they Win and not THE reason why they lose. As he goes, so goes the season for all concerned because no matter how we choose to limit our thinking, it is not just about this season.

Cheers!

It will be successful if we win more than we lose and are confident at season end that we have a viable QB.

It won't be a complete waste if we have a top 3 draft pick and can definitely conclude that we need a QB as bad QB play was not significantly attributable to the OL.
If you live your life as a pessimist you never really live your life at all.
