Our pass rush needs to step up today. Period.

We've talked enough about Jones and the offense. It goes without saying they all need to do better. This thread isn't about that.

What about or pass rush? We paid through the nose to get Brian Burns, and we used a 5th overall pick on Thibodeaux. We have an all pro in Dex. I've heard nothing but hype about how nasty our pass rush is going to be this year. I didn't see it at all last Sunday. Sam Darnold could have worn a tuxedo in the pocket and read entire chapters of Moby Dick back there before rearing back to throw. It was ridiculous.

The Commanders have the 27th ranked O line per PFF. This is not a good O line. We're going up against a rookie QB in week two. Yes, he's mobile, but he is also an inexperienced rookie who can be forced into mistakes.

No excuses, and if we can't get home with a four man rush, our new DC better show some willingness to bring some extra heat. This is critical for today. It didn't happen against Minnesota. It had better happen today.

They'll have an overcast day, 20% chance of rain with highs around 80 degrees. So, there's no reason why they should run out of gas unless the offense is putrid for four quarters.

It definitely is time to flex some muscle today and make the QB look every hit the rookie he is while the Giants' offense completely hits the reset button and does a take two on getting the season started.

It's a divisional game they have to win. Given that they are already trailing the Iggles and Cowboys by a game in the standings, they need it to stay close with those two teams.

Peace!

If Shane Bowen was such an excellent DC why did the Titans let him leave ? It was a leteral move not an upward one. It seems to me that if someone is that good as an assistant you keep him.  .

Couldn't agree more, Jeff. We have a lot of capital invested in our defensive line; it's time for them to earn their draft statuses and salary!!

I'd love to agree with you but unfortunately we will see a defense that is gassed by the 3rd quarter because training camp is a joke. Even though Daboll stepped it up this year. Last week I saw an exhausted defense, hands on hips, and Thibs took plays off. Jayden Daniels has legs so I'm not overly optimistic for sacks. But I'd like to see pressure yes

Another thread on this? I'm reaching out to Toomer as we speak! ;)

This type of defense should be able to handle a mobil QB better than one that is man heavy.  Pass rush will have to be disciplined (if it exists).

Keeping a young mobil QB in the pocket is usually the way to go.

Dave,

In this I agree with

What shall it profit you if you get a pass rush (4 sacks in the half), but still can't stop the run (115 yards in the half)?
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

We're in the game going into the half.

I can assure you that we wouldn't be if our run D were this bad AND we were getting zero pressure.

So I'd say it's helping keep us in this game despite our offense being in single digits.
