I'll lay it out simply so there's no confusion: your frustration around his lack of impact in two games is understandable and I (actually) share in it. (Though, apparently, I don't share in it enough to satisfy you). I, however, find it wild to declare (or imply) that he is not worth the trade, a bad or non-impactful player after just two games. I find this inconsistent with the way others on the team are treated so I don't understand why Burns wouldn't get the same indulgence.

It's an accurate description of what you did in your effort to discredit what I said.  Attacking me isn't going to change that fact.

Edit to add:  Calling someone's opinion "wild" would be a prime example of using a "pejorative" that you accuse other of

Quote from: MightyGiants on September 16, 2024, 11:35:45 AMHere is the BBH poll about the trade.  There were literally only 2 people who gave the trade one of the two (out of 5) lowest scores and one of those was me

Because it didn't show that I voted, I assume that means I missed the poll the first time around. So I went ahead and gave it a 2, which is how I feel now and how I felt then.

There was a lot of optimism with that trade for a number of reasons.

The general feel I got around this forum was strong approval and praise for brining in someone who was believed to be an elite pass rusher.

Not sure how we all felt at the time matters.  Two games in he doesn't look great.  There is 15 more games this season to change minds.  Of course looking at the schedule, 0-8 at this point would not be a surprise.  Any impact he has might not be felt with wins.

In true Giants fashion, I expect him to start lighting it up after the Giants are firmly out of the playoff race  ;)

He has to win against the Comms all day, and he fell way short. That's disturbing. So next, he goes against a battered offensive line in the Browns. He has to create plays against a poor offense and steal some field position, cash in with points. If that fails, the rails are coming off with this trade this year. Then, a new coach and gm possibly have to weave thru the roster, scrap this edition, but he is locked in, however, regardless of change. How he can make an impact, realize his potential they thought of. etc. is going to be the question soon.

Dark days are looming. This start is about as bad as it gets.

Spider.

Love your posts but I hate to tell you "Dark days are HERE".  They have taken up permanent residence and are even subletting rooms.

We need an exterminator.

Ha. I will amend that, thanks. Dark days have been here, a black cloud following our fandom for over a decade.

Funny we gave Burns all of 2 games but have people wanting us to wait until the end of year 6 to judge Jones.

Just remember there were plenty of people that though Dex was a bust until Patterson unlocked him. Give guys a little time to adjust, not 6 years but at least part of a season with a new DC and team.

When did Burns get drafted?  Wasn't it the same year as Jones?   Pretty sure we have more than 2 games to judge his performance.   He is what he has been: a good pass but not great pass rusher who isn't all that strong against the run
