Giants-Cowboys preview pod notes dump

Giants Offense v. Cowboys Defense

-last two games have only faced 31 passing attempts

Rushing Offense
RUN THE DAMN BALL
-32nd in YPG, 32nd in YPC at 5.4

-their DT group is extremely weak and controllable
-DUO, DUO, DUO and you will get yards
-throw zone reads with motion at Micah out of gun, make him think
-really struggle with misdirection in run game

Playaction last 2 weeks
-13/16 258 yards 2/1
Browns were 1/8 8 yards in Week 1
-they leave the crosser wide ass open on playaction
-Yankee concept should be there

Passing Offense
-14th in passing YPG but 25th in Y/A
-4th lowest passing attempts against

-Micah Parsons is obviously balling
1 sack, 5 hits, 12 pressures in 3 games
-not getting many A gap snaps but wins quick when he does
Andrew Thomas looking for a bounceback against Micah Parsons
-Want to see that matchup as much as possible

Demarcus Lawrence has been awful this year but its the Giants
-most missed tackles in the NFL with 9

-Zimmer runs 3rd most zone in the league, compared to last

DB's have missed a lot of tackles and leads to good YAC plays
-Robinson & Nabers opportunity to take quick game and go

Cowboys Offense v. Giants Defense

Passing Defense

-Have given up 3 sacks in every game this year
-Over 45 dropbacks per game but were down big at half of last 2 games

Tyler Guyton & Terrence Steele have both struggled so far
Guyton: 3 sacks 1 hit 4 pressures
Steele: 2 sacks 1 hit 6 pressures
-Interior OL has been really good, Beebe a stud already between All-Pros in Zach Martin & Tyler Smith

-TE's don't stay in to block (outside of matchup w/ Garrett week 1)
-Ferguson has been flexed out 61% of the time
-OL has struggled with stunts and leaves Guyton on an island a lot
-Aligning Dex to the Left will help to create 1 on 1's with Guyton
-Burns & Kayvon have to win this week to have a chance

-FB Hunter Leupke has played a lot of passing downs and can actually add some juice as receiver, needs to be respected at least
-use him to scan for blitzes

Ceedee lamb hasn't looked great so far this season for his standard but could see this being the game he blows up for 150 yards
-Dak hasn't looked his way like past years especially v. man, could see it being an emphasis with sideline issues last week and looking at Giants matchup as easy pickings to steady their ship
-13 catches 218 yards 1 TD on 21 targets
-He also has some backfield snaps
-Adoree & Phillips out likely means McCloud outside & Flott in nickel (week 1)
-Simmons got real nickel snaps against Browns but don't see that here
-Will the Giants have Banks follow into the slot? Banks only has 8 slot snaps in 1st 3 weeks
-I'd look to double Ceedee as much as you can with other WR's not being much of a threat
-some backfield snaps for Ceedee

Dak has shown a lot of trust in Jake Ferguson so far
-looks for him in the seams v. zone coverage and often his 1st look against man coverage
-Dak has had quite a few WTF moments this year but this is the weakest secondary he's faced by a wide margin
-has thrown balls right into rotating safety or trying to force ball to Ceedee
-looks for Cooks v. man blitzes (Double China 7) on money downs v. blitz looks
-7th highest deep throw rate in NFL this year so one of a few teams still trying to push it
-offense is very isolation heavy so a lot of just needing to win your matchups

Run Defense

This team can't run the ball and if they do on your defense, you should be ashamed
-30th in yards & 28th in YPC at 3.6
-have abandoned it but its really bad
-Dowdle is the lead back but has poor vision & no juice to break tackles
-Zeke has lost a step & doesn't have the burst
-Be aggressive on the edges because that's where their OL struggles and the backs don't have enough to make you pay for aggression and losing gap
-Also wan't the front to be more aggressive because of their efficient PA attack
