He still has those bad decisions with the ball and in crunch time he can lose a game rather than win it. He's on a good team but put him on this Giants team and i don't know if he has the same year. I would rather have him than Lock, DeVito or Tyrod as a backup today. I think he could win a few games. His price range in 5mm and next season it's voidable but I don't see why Minnesota would cut him because McCarthy won't be ready to start the season. Mayfield is better, but more expensive and he's not going anywhere either. @MightyGiants I think Baker would classify as a reclamation but he always had the talent. He was just his own worst enemy. It will be interesting to see him in another year with Todd Bowles as that team gets built. If Schoen had tagged Jones in 2023, this could have been the giants QB. I would classify Darnold in the DJ bucket. I don't believe either of them can take a team to the Promise Land. There is something missing in their DNA.

I think Darnold is at a turning point.  These last two games could prove to be the beginning of the end for him as a franchise QB or it could prove to be an aberration.  I am going to wait until I see what happens during the rest of the season.

I just got off with a friend who follows the Raiders (I used to be a fan, but he's pretty much given up on him at this point).  He was talking about how the Raiders could acquire Darnold.  This reminded me that QB acquisition isn't made in a vacuum.  There are at least a half dozen teams in similar need of their own franchise QB, with who the Giants are in competition.  Plus, the Vikings might just keep him, especially in light of JJ's second knee surgery.

As owner of this forum, I request that moving forward, we try to keep our focus on the topic at hand.  Things go off the rails when we turn our commentary on our fellow posters rather than discussing the topic at hand.

We should not call each other names; we should not characterize people's past positions or perceptions of their history.  We should not be challenging one another's credentials.   We are all here to talk about the Giants and football in general (as well as enjoy the comradery of fellow fans).

So that is my request: focus on the people.  That includes you, TDToomer (even this post is a prime example of the wrong focus), and even myself.  We all need to do a better job of not mocking, insulting, belittling, challenging, etc.   It would also be helpful if we dialed down the obsession with personally being right and wrong.  We are not just supposed to be the best informed Giants fans but the most respectful, friendly and welcoming.

"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Pot meets kettle I guess.
