Carl Banks referred to the defensive effort as DWI - don't want it

I wonder if Daboll is trying to get fired.

Players are not stupid.  I can't imagine, coming off a butt kicking, they were impressed by the coaching message.

He certainly put in the effort. Probably didn't have time or opportunity to watch what other players out in.

It might be productive conversation to illustrate the many plays where a player played not to get hurt or put in a weak effort.

Seems many are taking it as fact with out evidence. "The players are saying it so it must be true." Maybe the men who gave it all are insulted and upset to hear such talk. Or maybe they understand that to continue to dwell on it is counterproductive.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Ed,

It's worth noting, in yesterday morning's presser Daboll when asked about players saying there was a lack of effort, said he and the coaches would show the players the film to see that wasn't true.   I suggest listening to Daboll's Monday presser and then relisten to what McFadden said.  I think you might see his comments in a different light

Save me the time. What's the punchline? An echo chamber?

It appears to me that Daboll knows players not playing hard would be the kiss of death for his Giants' career.  So rather than get the players to buckle down, he is trying to convince them they are working hard and doing things right and are just a few plays away from success.

So you believe he's being disingenuous and failed to properly motivate and prepare the team for the next game. And you expect impending disaster? Correct?

Not criticizing, just trying to get the point. Makes sense to me. But not being in the building and looking from the outside, it's an assumption, not fact. Am I right?

There is a lot to unpack.  First, there is no argument; there is speculation involved.   As for how they will do Thursday, I am expecting a loss, but you never know.  Teams like the Giants are delicate.  If the Cowboys get a couple of scores up early, the Giants will pack it in.  If things break for the Giants early, you could be in for a fight, or perhaps the nearly as dysfunctional Cowboys pack it in.

It's a challenging situation for me because we are in almost uncharted territory.   First, it's rare to have many players saying their teammates didn't play well after a bad loss.  That's pretty unusual.

On the occasions that such a thing happens, the coach usually responds by saying that everyone needs to redouble their efforts. I have never seen a coach respond with the idea that the players are wrong or that the butt-kicking was the result of a few bad plays. I mean, we all saw the video of team captain Okereke running down the field while making no effort to stop the ball carrier.

How much of an impact is there from sending a message to your team that you care more about money than winning? We have had many posts here about tanking the season. I think this serves as a lesson on why winning every game as the message from the HC is paramount. I really don't think the benching was initiated by Daboll. They had 7 games left and his job is to win games in order to keep his job. Stephen A. Smith mouthed off again making sense that from the perspective of a young player like Nabors, who is putting his body on the line with every play, that he's frustrated and he just wants out of this dysfunctional organization. I've always maintained that once you send a message to the players that winning isn't important, you're dead in the water. Thoughts?

Ed,

No doubt about it, when players sense you decisions are not about winning the games you are playing it, you quickly lose the locker room.

If we lose Thursday then Daboll is as good as done. Take it to the bank

Alright Micah! You and your line mates get a nice participation ribbon for your good effort. Congratulations on doing the absolute bare minimum requirements of your f'en jobs. This statement disgusts me. Who made him the spokesman for the D? I'd rather listen to Nabors be honest than his defensive teammates be satisfied with their play on Sunday.

Where is Harry Carson these days. We need him to go right into that film session and throw some chair around.
