MightyGiants

I have been listening to their podcast for years.  This episode was unlike any I have ever heard.  It was part defending Schoen and Daboll and part begging the Giants players to play harder:

SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

MightyGiants

One other topic, Banks faulted analytics for Barkley's release.   Carl says analytics doesn't have a heartbeat

As a long-time (and still ongoing) strong supporter of Saquon, I feel I have a "right" to say this.

Don't judge the move to let him go right now (I'm not expressing a view now or ever about the efficacy of releasing him, because I don't understand all the ins-and-outs of NFL finances).

Let's wait at least until the end of this season (better would be to wait until the end of next season) before we reach a conclusion on that. Let's see if he can actually get through a season without getting hurt. Same for next year.

PS. Saquon's success behind a good offensive line (compared to the CRAP he played behind on the Giants) is one of the heaviest factors that weighed in my decision to "give up the ghost" concerning Daniel Jones, and I have wondered whether or not the SAME fact weighed in the owner's decision.
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Would you have tagged him?
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

From what I can see, Barkley didn't want to be here any more and it's pretty understandable why.  He watched that Eagles OL going back to the middle of last season and started drooling over it and what he could do behind it.  He was right to do so, I hold no ill will towards him at all.

I do not think they ever had a realistic shot at bringing him back no matter what they did, and to be clear I'm glad they didn't.  They are not a RB away from being good.  Tracy is giving them basically what Barkley gave them the past few seasons with a few more fumbles worked in.

They both work for the Giants. You will get an in-house analysis.

Ed: I would have done whatever it took to avoid losing him.

The REAL issue IMO is which player would I have dealt with first.

Good teams not only do good things, they do them in the correct order, because with the salary cap it's all one big constantly-shifting puzzle.  Instead, they fell into what I'd call a "rookie trap" of dealing with them in the order of importance of the POSITION rather than in the order of HOW GOOD A PLAYER they are.

Like drafting for need instead of BPA.

Ed: I never thought of that (two heads are indeed better than one) but, yes, it's a very strong parallel. Bob
