The Giants, in their infinite wisdom (  =))  ), as part of their draft strategy, should consider a pick exchange, IF another "top 10 team" wants to move up, and the Giants end up not having a QB they'd want at their pick (#2 as of today, ? on draft day, no guarantee it will stay #2 or move up to #1).

As I stated, it's way too early to read the tea leaves about this stuff. But, at least formulate the idea, regardless whether they consider it or not on draft day.

Yes, the last time they had two picks in the top 10 turned out to be a disappointment, but no reason not to consider it again if the opportunity presents itself and the chance they can get two impact players if the opportunity presents itself.

Merely a hypothesis, no different than anyone else's, at this time of year, to keep ourselves entertained.

Peace!

Well, none of the 1st round picks have been traded.  So, that means all 32 teams have exactly one first round pick.  So, you want the Giants to possibly trade from 2 to 10?  What would you like the team at 10 to add to the deal?  Note: they do not have another 1st round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

Yes, a lot can happen between now and then. I hesitated to mention it at all at this time. Banks is a great player so far in college, but I wanted to note that there's going to be a guy in this draft who truly has a shot at being a two-way player in professional football. Similarly, guys in baseball who can pitch and play in the field are ultra-rare. Bob

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

What about trade to 3?
What about trade to 4?
What about trade to 5?
What about trade to 6?
What about trade to 7?
What about trade to 8?
What about trade to 9?

It's about gaining additional draft capital to add more selections, be it this year or next year, when a bumper crop of QBs will be available to pick from.

The Rich Hill (Drafttek) Model for NFL Draft Capital is recognized as the current standard and, if the Giants ended up picking #2 overall, their draft capital would look like this:

2025 NYG Draft Capital - Rich Hill Draftek Model

Obviously, you don't plan to make moves now. But in the days leading up to the draft, you size up the teams and their draft positions, their projected needs and wants, and you begin making phone calls to gauge interest. Likewise, you may receive calls gauging your interest in moving out of #2.

For the record, I do NOT want to see the Giants waste a #1 or #2 on any of these QBs coming out. Not worth it; wait 'til next year. I'd rather move down in the top 10, grab as much extra capital as possible, and grab BPA. I've said it a million times I want to hit the reset button on LT with Banks Jr. from Texas and start building am impenetrable wall next to him. Get your franchise QB next year and go forward. But Bob keeps throwing Hunter at me to the point I can no longer ignore that option either as an intriguing possibility. An impact of almost LT-like proportion? Definitely worth considering and, in the end, maybe you have to stay at #2 to get him if he's really all that.

Nobody, especially me, is locking down the edict of trying to move out of #2 (or #1). But I do have my feelings about drafting a QB that high and I'd rather take a chance in Round 2 or 3, as some others have suggested, where a diamond in the rough might be waiting to be chosen.

It's hard enough that we all have to get through the next four weeks of this crummy season without starting hot debates on 2025 drafting approaches.

Come April, coggs my friend, bring your A-game!

Until then ...

Peace!
