Larry,

You may feel like holding people accountable for their decisions is "second-guessing, bitching, hating, and whining."   That's okay, John Mara seems to share your views when it comes to accountability and demanding excellence.  ;)

If only it was after the fact. This disaster has been well documented. You could see it coming a long time ago with the backwards moves made top to bottom. Don't know what "You suck, die in a hole" has to do with anything, but I guess there are those who like to make things personal here. What does suck is the way this team is run, top to bottom.

If Schoen and Daboll are both retained for next season, it increases the probability Mara played a significant role in the Jones contract extension thus taking some of the responsibility for the failures of the signing.

And/or were active parties that included Mara in Tank job 24/25 for the race to #1

This. I believe they didn't want Jones from their Day 1. In 22' Dabol simplified the offense to meet Jones' ability, the league caught on, Jones did not improve. Mara with his "we've done everything we can to screw this kid up" pushed the contract, compromise of 2 yr. out ensued. Here we are. Unfortunately there is no Andrew Luck like QB coming out this year.

Quote from: MightyGiants on December 23, 2024, 01:15:11 PMWhere is the evidence that shows Schoen and Daboll wanted to move on from Jones after 2022 but Mara forced them not to.  If you are like Tim and claim Mara's opinions were more important (or put so much pressure on Schoen that he changed his position on Jones) than presumably Daboll's (who I guess was like Schoen opposed to keeping Jones), then there is a major issue with the GM.

I don't have hard evidence, but it's not unreasonable to put the puzzle pieces together to come to this conclusion. Not executing the 5th year option was a pretty clear sign that Schoen and Daboll expected to be done with Jones after 2022. As I've said before, there is nothing to be gained by declining the option. That 2022 season left them with few options and gave Mara a pretty good argument to try and bring Jones back.

And like I said, if it was all Schoen, why would the beat make such a big deal about Schoen getting the green light to draft a QB last year?
