The 49ers are a playoff caliber team as well.  If they don't see the value in Deboo, I am not sure how the Commanders will find it.

I watched the 49ers regularly and Deebo was a spiritual leader for that team for a long time. The team literally fed off his energy and he "had" the ability to change a game with his physical will and determination.

Last season, though, he was a shell of his old self. Even in the Super Bowl prior, he was playing hurt and was generally not effective. But I believe the wheels started falling off last year and he missed a good part of the season.

He'll bounce back and try to be for Washington what he was for the 49ers; however, once he gets "popped" a few times from physical teams, such as the Iggles, we'll see how long he lasts.

The gamble with a fifth round pick is well worth any opportunity that might be captured if he can still produce. But make no mistake in that they aren't getting that explosive Deebo we used to watch a few years ago. Still, even 75% of Deebo is well worth the draft pick if they team believes it can get back to the Conference Championship again.

Whether successful or not, Washington deserves credit for investing a 5th Round pick in the effort not to mention picking up the $17.55 million left on his 49ers contract's final year. I guess they figure it could make them a Deebo closer.
In any case, we shall see; no need to mention the Giants Gettlegaffes.

Unfortunately I don't see us moving forward or getting better with what we have available both in players and management.

Too early for the "I want this guy to coach/run the Giants"?!?!

It's kind of funny that while the Eagles work diligently to hurt the Giants, the Commanders are sneaking up from behind to take them down

Cowboys are heading in a downward trend (maybe even a death spiral); Giants are at bottom with a sliver of hope of improving in the next couple of years; the Eagles have crested with nowhere to go but down; and the Commanders are the fastest rising team in the east. What a football world we live in

I know Deebo has been banged up and playing at less than 100% a lot but he has played in 15 of 17 games the last 2 years.

Here is the question, would you rather have 2 4th round picks and no Debo Samuel or one 4th round pick and Debo Samuel ?

Deebo is physical. That's his game .always since college. But comes it at a price..but a very reasonable move for both teams.

But you really see Washington far better in approach..legit now..we are the mule train with the baggage

This is an excellent yet astute observation. As hard as it may seem to believe, and it has nothing to do with local bias, the AZ Cardinals are the up-and-coming team in the NFC West who is poised to challenge San Francisco for the division. GM Monte Ossenfort has done an outstanding job digging that team out of the dumpster and into near playoff contention. They are definitely a team on the rise in the West while there are question marks for the Seahawks and the Rams and 49ers are starting to feel the birds pecking on the back of their helmets.

But, to the 49ers, with Deebo now gone, and Aiyuk with potentially one foot out the door, their receiving game will need a bit of a makeover. Giving the ball to McCaffrey and TE George Kittle only works for so long. But with McCaffrey returning healthy, the offense should get a shot in the arm with his dynamic performance returning. But what folks may not have known is that Head Coach, Kyle Shanahan, has promoted Klay Kubiak to the Offensive Coordinator role, and will call all the plays after being given the opportunity to do in situations last season.

On defense, I believe everyone here knew that former Jets' Head Coach, Robert Saleh, became the Defensive Coordinator for the 49ers and will hold that capacity in 2025.

The article in the link above also talks about Brock Purdy in that his QB Coach, Brian Griese, is moving on after three years, and will be replaced by Mick Lombardi, who was a senior offensive assistant last season.

With significant changes to their staff, a big-name player moving on, a huge decision to make whether or not to invest in their young quarterback, the 49ers are at a bit of a crossroads point going into 2025. No longer are they the run-away leaders of the NFC West and every move they make, going forward, must be calculated and result in improving the team's chances for contending for the division where it is no longer a two-horse race with the Rams.
