How do you feel about Tyrone Tracy being ranked 30th by PFF?

I am not saying he is elite or top tier or anything. But he definitely should be higher.

I went beyond the PFF grade

Tracy was 25th in total rush yards

In a 5-way tie for 20th in yards per attempt

26th in rushing TDs

He was 27th in total receiving yards

33rd in yards per reception

In a huge tie for 19th with a single receiving TD

Based on everything I read about Cam, I would not be surprised if he supplants Tracy as the starting RB.

Rich, you and PFF can't compare Tracy properly because the highest RB snaps last season were 446. Tracy was used only 192 times in Rushing Snaps. I did a custom search of 180 rushing attempts or more. His rushing grade was 69.9 and that placed him 25th. However, his YPA was 15th out of 29 rushers, which includes Daniels and Hurts. So he's middle of the pack in Rushing production. His overall grade is bad because of his fumbling and Run Blocking, 29.8 and 40.0, respectively. 

His Pass Blocking was putrid. a 35.1 grade out of 49 RBs, looking at 20% of PB snaps. However, Singletary was 4th with a 71.9. Here is where Skattman can get more playing time if he proves to be an effective Pass Blocker.

His receiving grade was putrid too at a 40.6 and that puts him 28 out of 29 RBs at 50% of Passing attempts.

The only thing he did well was YPA.

Hopefully, he can learn. It takes more than will. If CS can become an effective blocker, he can push for the #1 RB Role.

How do I feel about him being rated among the top 30 RB's in the NFL? Pretty darned good actually. He was a 5th round draft pick who was a converted WR. If anyone told us on draft weekend that he end up, not only starting, but rushing for nearly 1000 yards in this offense, we'd have been quite happy with that. I know I am.

You nailed it Ed.  It's about pass blocking and run blocking.  The first Giants RB to do that well will likely see the field first.  There is too much at stake to have marginal blocking from a RB especially when a downhill screaming LB is about to take out your QB.
