Daboll and Play Calling

With Russell Wilson, a veteran QB  as the QB it does not make much sense to have Daboll as the play caller. Let Kafka handle the play calling and Daboll should immerse himself with runnning the entire operation.

When Dart is ready to take over the QB positioin then maybe Daboll could step in but the operative word is MAYBE .

If I am not mistaken Andy Reid gave Kafta a lot of credit in developing Patrick Mahomes

Playcalling should be a function of who can keep a defense off-balance and in its heels.  Nothing else IMHO.

A HC needs to be less involved in one thing and be on the pulse of everything.  Small things like "does my QB look like his confidence is down, does my offense have the swagger now to convert a 4th and 1" etc.

This makes no sense, a players experience should not dictate who calls plays, let alone one who has never played a down for the team, or with the players around them.

Not saying whether Daboll or Kafka should call plays, but this would never make sense to be the reason to move that needle in either direction.

Kafka is more nuanced and I don't know if Wilson has anything to do with it.

Don't agree with you but it is not the first time nor I assume will it be the last time. Did Gary Kubiak call the plays for Peyton Manning in 2015 when the Broncos won the SB? Did Bruce Arians call the plays for Tom Brady in 2021 when the Bucs won the SB

That has no relevance to the Giants in 2025 in any capacity.

Kafka may very well be the better option to call plays. What some team did 5 or 10 years ago means nothing though.

Whoever can call the more effective offense and put more points on the board, should call the plays, simple as that, whoever is throwing the ball does not affect that.

Being realistic, all the head coaches who call offense have crazy experience or early career success.
KOC, Matt Lefleur, Kyle Shanahan, Andy Reid, Swan Mcvay, etc

Almost all of them are considered elite coaches. One thing I have learned in the second half of my life is that certain people and brain types can do one difficult thing amazingly. Then if they have to multitask get completely smoked. Daboll is not an elite coach. I think he can be a good as a coach or an OC. I really don't think he is at a stage in his career where he should be doing both. I really like Kafka and I really believe that in 20 years he will leave a much bigger footprint as an NFL head coach (he will get a shot at some point) Its not like we have Shane Waldren as our OC, of course let Daboll call plays at that point. Kafka is talented and should be utilized, Daboll should be the head coach and focus on that and that only.

Ed Vette

One good thing about Daboll calling the plays was that he seldom lost his xxxx on the sidelines because he was thinking three steps ahead and wasn't on the headset micromanaging the DC.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

I am not going to get into any argument with you . You have your opinion which is worth or worthless as mine is .

Why should anyone here think that he, she, or it should decide who calls the plays? Aside from being unqualified, there is no one here who isn't shackled by some pre-formed bias including those who wanted Daboll and/or Schoen fired, as well as those who in regard to "play calling" would advise all of us unqualified others to stfu

Cheers!

Why do you constantly have to rag on everyone here for having an opinion on something as it relates to the Giants or football in general yet you opine on topics when you damn well feel like it?  Don't get me started on your "N'est-ce pas" at the end of many of your statements.  What are you trying to prove with that?

LOL, it's a sports talk forum. Thats what it is. Speculation and some nerds talking about sports.
All of our takes or opinions are worthless. It's just for fun. What else do you think we should be talking about here?
