I really hadn't thought about it, but I will look into the hows and see if it helps.

I have some free time now. I was looking over some of my 'older' pics and saw I am a very big fan of reflections in water. I look for a great shot and hope the water is calm enough to get a great reflection from it. Maybe it is not to everyone's taste but I find it fascinating.

In Alaska

In the Berkshires of Massachusetts

Maine

Rockport Mass (One of the most famous houses sketched and painted, Motif #1)

A rainy fall day in New Hampshire

Vermont

Washington DC

And one of my best pics ever

Perfection. Each and every one of them.

Yeah, Bill, we've been hearing about this for a few days now. They are saying people even down South will be able to see the Northern Lights. Truly a remarkable event.

Great pix.

Awesome photo Bill. We went outside last night here in Texas but weren't lucky enough to see anything. We'll try again tonight.
Beautiful shot you got!

Well, I was just going thru some photos on the laptop and figured I would add to this fine thread with just some random shots of random things.
First just some shots of the backyard in the fall

Just wonderful pics Lou.

I have those little Geckos around my yard also but never was able to get a pix of them.

Not sure if I posted these yet or not, but we changed all the doorknobs in our house (it's a wife thing...) so I got some of what Lenn likes to call a puzzle box shots

Hey folks! I don't get to this board much in the off season, and haven't shared any photos lately. I've shot some cool stuff lately, but let me start with the latest first!  GF and I are in Ocean City, MD for the annual air show. It's been over a year since I've been to an air show, and have never made the OC show. We're in an oceanfront room with a balcony, right next to show center, so we avoided the crowds, the sand, and the sun!

US Navy EA-18G Growlers making some noise!

Not to be outdone, US Air Force F-22 Raptor made some noise of its own...

The main event! The Italian Air Force demonstration team, the Frecce Tricolori, are making their first US visit in 30 years, and I've never had the chance to see them before - they were the main reason we came to the show this year.

WOW!! Just incredible, Moose. What fantastic shots! It looks like that Italian team really pulled out all the stops. Just too cool.
I do have a question though...the very first shot of the Growlers...it looks like there is a ring of vapor(?) surrounding each plane. Is that due to the speeds they're going? Are they breaking the sound barrier.  I really don't know and am curious.
Again, just brilliant pix.

Thanks, Ozzie! The Growlers weren't supersonic, but they were probably close. At very high, transonic speeds, shock waves start to form, causing low pressure over the aircraft. When there is some humidity, that lower pressure causes condensation and you see that cloud. That can change very quickly - in the frame before this one, shot less than a second earlier, the lead aircraft had no vapor cloud.

ozzie

Ahh, ok. Thanks for the explanation. Nice that you caught that shot with the cloud, I think it make the photo all the more interesting. As always, just great shots.

Anyone else see the Northern Lights Thursday night? These were taken outside Charlotte, NC.
