If any of you liked Cops, "...Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?", you would like Police 24/7 on CW. Season 2 just started. The situations are generally more serious than Cops.

I am a HUGE fan of the movie Gladiator. For me, it's one of those movies if I see it while scrolling around, I will always tune in for a look-see. The action was great, the special effects in some of those gladiator scenes were spectacular and Russel Crowe was great. So with that said, I was so looking forward to watching the 'new' Gladiator II. I sat down today, with no football on to watch this 2 1/2 hour movie. So, what did I think? What I think is why in Heaven's name did they think this might work? Look, I am far from a movie critic, but IMVHO this movie stunk. The action/gladiator scenes were OK but nowhere near what the original had. This dude, whatever his name is, was so far from Russel Crowe, at times he was funny without trying to be funny. The storyline was horrible and hard to follow and the total acting was amateurish.
I have no idea what type of write-up this movie got, but I found it terribly disappointing.

A few weeks ago, TCM had a documentary about 'cult' movies that are shown around the country at midnight, like the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Eraserhead, Pink Flamingos, and a couple of others. I am usually not a fan of these sorts of movies, but I loved Rocky Horror. I saw it many years ago (and many times since) and have attended a couple of its midnight showings, I never dressed up but I did bring a water gun and some rice when I went. The picture is OK but the whole gimmick is the show itself.
Anyway, over time I have seen most of these movies, except Eraserhead, which was on TCM Friday night, so I copied it and watched it yesterday. I think I have mentioned a few times over the years I have never been a fan of David Lynch either in movies or TV. He is a GOD to some, but I just can't seem to 'put up' with his movie-making, and watching Eraserhead was really tough. I didn't know what to expect going in and came away still not knowing why I wasted another hour and a half and for the life of me, I just do not understand why this movie is a cult favorite. It is so amateurish in acting, script, and budget. I tried very hard to stay with it but found myself fast-forwarding it towards the end just to get it over with. For me a complete waste of time.

I need football on weekends or I have to get out more.

Watched The Night agent season 2, and the recruit season 2 which were a lot of fun for quick watches. I also watched black doves the spy show with Keira Knightley was actually quite decent. All are on Netflix currently.

Night Agent, season 2, is next up for me.

I totally agree on Eraserhead. Like you, I had always heard so much about it and it's rise to "cult" status.
I watched it for the first and only time a few months ago and was left with the same impression, 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back, HAHA! Just weird for the sake of being weird. I can't think of any other reason for that movie being made. It made no sense whatsoever.

Pretty sure I've mentioned Eraserhead here in the past. Like Len and Ozzie I'm at a loss regarding that movie. I watched it several years ago, and even watched it a second time after that, to see if it had some redeeming quality I might have missed on the first go round. Nope, both times it left me shaking my head. Not my cup of tea.

And yet, some think it is great.

I watched it last night despite your less-than-stellar review, Lenn. I didn't think the acting was that bad, and I am a big fan of Denzel Washington (kind of a strange role for him though). The dual kid-kings were irritating as hell and was weird IMO. I loved the special effects...wild! It was a movie that at least I didn't wish for the last couple of hours of my life back, like too many movies I've watched...lol
The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

The wife and I watched A Man on the Inside with Ted Danson as a recent widower who goes undercover at a senior living facility to investigate a theft. It's a light-hearted comedy but does have some touching moments about growing older and relationships. It's an 8-episode season with plans for a second. I give it a B+.

Sometime this past week I re-watched "Singing in the Rain" for the umpteenth time.
Great movie, but to be honest, I can do without the Broadway Melody / ballet interlude with Cyd Charisse. It goes on for far too long and is totally unnecessary IMO.
But even with that, a fun movie with a lot of laughs and great talent all thru the cast.
And Debbie Reynolds was just so adorable!!

I've been saying that same exact thing for God knows how many years. Why it is even there is a real head-scratcher unless Gene wanted to show his 'classical' side.
Otherwise, just a joy to watch, no matter how many times.

Finished Dalgliesh on Acorn. I quite liked this one, a British fictional crime solving series.

Also finished season 2 of Bookies. If it wasn't for Sebastian Maniscalco I most likely wouldn't even be watching this series on MAX. It has its moments, but unfortunately they're too few and far between.

I've started another series on Acorn. This one is an Australian comedy/crime solving series called Mr. & Mrs. Murder. The premise - they're a married couple who run a cleaning business, called in to clean up after homicides. They scrub blood from carpets, walls, etc. and at the same time gather clues to help solve the murder. A light comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously. What's got me coming back to it is the husband of the clean-up duo reminds me of a younger Leslie Nielsen.

The Night Agent, season 2. Ok, I'm a couple episodes in, and so far it's just been "chase, shoot, repeat." Disappointing so far. It's everything that's wrong American action shows. Too bad, I really enjoyed season 1, hopefully season 2 gets better.

I really enjoyed this show. Thought it was a nice easy little watch. The short episodes appealed to me too. I have been reading the Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club books - they are set in the same type of residential home. The show reminded me of that.

Currently watching Bad Monkey on Apple TV. It's alright, certainly watchable but not much better than that.

Well, tonight I'll be watching the Knicks take on the Celtics, probably from the seat of my favorite dive, but I digress

A movie is coming out in six days that looks like the best movie in the last couple of years. Hardcore thriller with a budding romance between two snipers. It's going to drop Friday on Apple+... called "The Gorge"
