Quote from: LennG on May 20, 2025, 11:45:48 AMI just started watching 'The Last Of Us'. Another in a very long line of  'end of the world' by virus movies, with the usual undead roaming the earth. The thing is, I usually love these shows and movies. After 3 episodes, I am enjoying this one also. From what I have seen, this one isn't really different than many of the others, but it is interesting, and I have heard wonderful things about season 2, so it was time to try it out.
It's fantastic! My favorite apocalypse show ever. Season finale for Season 2 is next week. Based on a video game it was a worldwide phenomenon and now everyone discusses it weekly like they did with game of thrones. Season 2 episode 2 was one of the best episodes of TV I have seen in a decade. I put it up there with game of thrones Season 6 episode 9 and 10 as the best episodes I've seen.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on May 20, 2025, 10:05:35 AMOne just popped into my head that I watched earlier this year that was pretty good, "Death and Other Details" on Hulu. Sorta like the game of Clue. 10 episodes, all dropped

Here's the synopsis, without giving anything away: "Set amidst the glamor of the global elite, "Death and Other Details" centers on the brilliant and restless Imogene Scott (Violett Beane), who finds herself in the wrong place/wrong time (okay, it was kinda her fault) and becomes the prime suspect in a locked room murder mystery. The setting? A lavishly restored Mediterranean ocean liner. Suspects? Every pampered guest and every exhausted crew member. The problem? To prove her innocence, she must partner with a man she despises—Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin), the world's greatest detective."

The original clue movie is one of my favorite movies ever. I love whodunit movies or shows. The ones that give the viewer hints as they go along and has the main character solve it in the end. I watched "the residence" on Netflix recently which was a quick binge and in that mold. I also like the serious ones as well "the killing" that was on AMC back when everything they put out was amazing. Yeah but any Murder mystery, political thriller, or conspiracy based movie or show hooks me. They just don't really make that many anymore. "Deadloch" on Amazon was the best murder mystery I've seen in a few years with the added bonus that it was hilarious.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 20, 2025, 09:34:01 AMYeah they are phenomenal!

Probably seen them but Only Murders in the Building was good as was Death and Other Details - both Disney.

Any of the Harlen Coben series are good. Especially the ones set in the UK - Mickey Boliter on Prime was decent.

The Residence on Netflix was enjoyable too.

Those are all murder/mystery romps.

Jess, if you like Agatha Christie murder mysteries, there's a bunch of them on Prime (Amazon), most for free. "Poirot" is on Netflix and Apple+. There's actually a bunch of them scattered on various streaming channels: https://www.tvinsider.com/list/agatha-christie-adaptations-streaming-ranked/#show2

The ones on Prime (the ones with the little yellow handbag means you have to pay for it)

I am enjoying this series.
Did you ever watch The Walking Dead in its real heyday? It was far superior to anything at that time, and really was the most talked-about show on TV at that time. It was a terrific watch, also. I don't think you were around then, but we had an ongoing thread about TWD after every episode. It was huge and on a par with any of the best shows on TV.
As I watch this series, and I haven't gotten to season 2, but this series reminds me of the heyday of The Walking Dead, which really was 'Must Watch TV'.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

You would have loved our discussions on TWD. We had a solid group that watched every week and we came here to direct every show. I fully agree that when Carl died and it took him long enough the show was really getting to be on borrowed time. The entire show should have ended when Rick left as we all had a hard ti.e watching after that. But for a good solid 5 years it was the show we all talked about.
How do you compare this new show to that?
