Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on April 06, 2025, 11:07:11 AMI definitely will. 'm sure there is no season 3, judging by the ages of Ford and Mirren (and she's starring in Mobland with Pierce Brosnan). But there are rumors of a 50's series that connects 1923 to Yellowstone. I'm just curious who gets to be the patriarch of the family
Plus there is a Madison spinoff that is supposed to come out in a few months set at the same time as yellowstone with a different family. Patrick just Adams from suits, Michelle Phifer and Matthew fox from lost are in it.

Just read an article in the paper that said today's episode 7, of "1923" is definitely the finale, and it is 2-hours long

I haven't started it yet, but it IS the next thing I do watch. Comments to follow.

I started watching a series on Prime called "The Bondsman" starring Kevin Bacon.
I'll just paste the IMDb synopsis of it here:
"Resurrected bounty hunter Hub Halloran gets an unexpected second chance at life, love, and his nearly-forgotten musical career - only to find that his old job now has a demonic new twist."

30 minute episodes, a couple of interesting sub-plots and a few chuckles. I'm three episodes in so far and enjoying it. Caution: a little bit of gore and a good amount on R rated language.
"I'll probably buy a helmet too because my in-laws are already buying batteries."
— Joe Judge on returning to Philadelphia, his hometown, as a head coach

"...until we start winning games, words are meaningless."

We finished watching The White Lotus last night, and overall, while well done, we were a bit (well, more than a bit) disappointed with the entire last episode. We both hated the ending and just felt the entire season was more and more depressing as each episode went on. I know from previous seasons that there are always problems with each couple, but this year, as each day of the week that they are staying there, more and more everyone seemed doomed.
Like last season, we were both very upset over who dies.

This series is better than many on TV these days, but I also want some brighter things when I sit down to watch a series. I feel this was the least appealing of the 3 seasons it has been on.

The last of us season 2 returns tonight replacing the white lotus.

I've been watching Mobland which has been really good so far with Tom hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren. It's the British yellowstone basically.

I've also been watch a show called Good Cop Bad Cop, it's a wholesome detective show that reminds me of Monk, or Psych in that it gives you a wholesome or positive feeling. It's about a family in a small town we're the father is police chief and the good/badd cops are a brother sister duo solving cases.

I also just rewatched Deadloch from last year, it's about two female detectives trying to find a serial killer. It is an amazing whodunnit that is both an amazing detective show but also hilarious at the same time. Filmed in Tasmania, and on Amazon prime, it's a must watch.

Binged the latest season of "Black Mirror" on Netflix over the weekend.

After loving the first four seasons of this show, I found seasons five and six to be disappointing. This latest one (season seven) however, I feel like they got themselves back on track, and it was pretty darn good IMHO. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes this show, even if you have been disappointed in very recent installations.

I gave up my YouTubeTV subscription the first week of April, but since you pay a month in advance I still have it until the end of the month. Doesn't really matter since, aside from the Giants games, I haven't watched 5 minutes of it over the past few months. Been mostly watching Yankee games (mlb.tv subscription), Netflix, and AcornTV.

Recently finished two more Acorn series, and started a third.

The Lovers is a show my wife and I watched together. Same old premise - mismatched couple meet, decide they can't be a couple, then fall in love. Quite predictable, though there were some laugh out loud scenes and dialog. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21282348/

Blackshore is a murder mystery set in a small Irish town which has its share of powerful people with dark secrets and shady pasts. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt29402557/

Lastly, I'm one episode in to True Love. It's not what you think. It's from the creators of Netflix's Baby Reindeer (which I haven't seen, and know nothing about). This has an interesting and deeply thought provoking story line. "A group of old friends reunited at a funeral make a drunken pact. Rather than let each other suffer a slow and painful decline they would engineer a dignified death. But what starts out as a fanciful idea soon morphs into shocking reality."  Good acting, interesting dialog, both funny and touching, quite often within the same scene.

I just finished season two of Outer Range starting Josh Brolin on Amazon Prime.

It's a decent sci-fi fantasy. Josh Brolin plays a cattle rancher in beautiful Wyoming who discovers a mysterious hole in the ground that is a portal to another world and another time. It's slow paced and brooding but I kept watching to figure out what the mystery was. I'd give it a 6 out of 10.

I've been watching The Pitt. Hospital emergency room in a large hospital. What makes it rather unique is every one hour episode is one hour in the emergency room in the same  day. Gets great reviews on IMDB.

The last hospital type show I watched was Ben Casey. (Well there was MASH), just not my cup of tea. Glad you enjoyed it.

I spent most of the afternoon finishing up '1923', and as someone else posted, it sure was worth it. What a rip-roaring conclusion. Just a terrific watch. Season 2 was everything season 1 was and more. I really don't think there will be a season 3 as they sort of wrapped everything up pretty neatly with no 'cliff-hangers' to ponder about.

My one question, which I'm sure I just can't tie it in, at the very end, they said Spenser had another child, a boy, and something about one of them dying after 40-something years. Do we know these sons now? The premmie was John, now in charge of Yellowstone, but who is the other?

Good question Lenn...I've had the same curiosity about the leadership of the family carrying on. I suppose the answer will be obvious once they drop the "1950s" series, which I have no idea when that's coming. I kind of wondered if Spencer is going to hook up with Elizabeth. Elizabeth at the end was saying goodbye, but she carries the only true heir apparent inside her, so there's that

Regardless, incredible series that ranks near the top (or the top) of Sheridan's productions

Ric, let's talk

SPOILER ALERT for 1923

I did some looking online about what we were talking about, the ending. Seems the premmie, John, will be John Dutton (Kevin Costner )'s father, since Costner is John Dutton III. The new series you mentioned is going to be 1944 and will probably feature this premmie John Dutton II.
They also mention the 'other' baby Spenser had with a widow, but no one seems to know anything about this baby, so speculation is that he could challenge John II for control of Yellowstone.
What I did miss was that it was Spencer who lived another 45 years after his wife died, and we see them reunite in heaven, I assume, for that last dance. Since Spencer lived for 45 years, that would make his death in 1968. There is a lot to fill in between this, Spencer's son taking over Yellowstone, and then Costner's John Dutton running it.

One other question, maybe you have a handle on, Specer said that Whitfield was responsible for his wife's death and that's why he killed him. For the life of me, how was Whitfield responsible for Alex's death? The only thing I can think of and it is pretty remote is that since Whitfield was the one that started the war with the Dutton's, and he was asked to return home to fight, if not f or this him and Alex might still be on that island somewhere and venture home at their leisure. Possible?
