USCG HISTORY:
On this day, November 10, 1975 - The Great Lakes ore-carrier Edmund Fitzgerald, caught in an unexpected storm on Lake Superior, sank with a loss of all 29 hands.  Coast Guard units helped conduct a search for the ship and survivors although all efforts proved to be futile.
